There is no way North Korea can adapt to the lifestyle and freedoms of the South Korean people without a complete dissolution of the North Korean government.

Exactly!

Translation: Kim has decided to purge his entire officer corps to prevent a coup and needs more time before the summit to complete the purge, wherein he will gladly sign anything that legitimizes his position and country and guarantees he will be a billionaire.

......”We’ve tried to bomb our way to peace the last 20 years. We got nowhere”....

You must be very young or not familiar with WWI and II...as well as other conflicts we’ve helped bring peace in.

I’m not sure South Korea would want to take on the problems of NK.

A huge supply of minerals including rare earths should smooth the transition.

I think the statement was coached as a Propaganda piece to garner some global sympathy for their apparent earnest effort. There is another article where they formally “closed” and sealed their nuclear testing facility. There is some evidence that they destroyed it accidentally in their last round of tests.

Are we to believe that this was their only test facility? Should we believe this means they are eliminating all nuclear materials, plans, weapons and engineering associated with their decades long efforts?

If they did accidentally blow up their test facility near the boarder of China, it’s a good bet their Chinese buddies had a stern chat with them. What they now need is TIME. If they wanted to start construction of additional infrastructure, they need time to set up some covert cover projects.

If I were President Trump I’d announce that the 10th Mountain Division or the 4th Marine Division are about to be stationed in Korea to reinforce the 2ID. Watch their heads explode.

I follow Thomas on Twitter and generally like his analysis. Can we agree it is a lot more accurate than the “Muller is secretly on team Trump” analysis that was floating around here??

“I would have died laughing only 5 years before if someone told me West and East Germany would be United.”

I had a hard time believing it when it happened.

“With great presidents great things are possible. We just have them so rarely.”

Few have the stomach for the hard work.
Reagan walked away from negotiations with Russia because he couldn’t get what he wanted.

President Trump is the same Larger Than Life type of figure.

“I guess we will take a wait-and-see on this. Can’t imagine the generals going for it or Kim giving up that kind of power.”

I’m not sure Kim Jong Un has the will to ride the bull the rest of his life.
He is western educated and knows how good life can be.
He can be an utter despot like his dad and grandad, but constant threat of a coup can be wearing.
Guarantee his safety and the lifestyle he loves and who knows what might happen.

“Anyone remember who was in control of East Germany at least as a puppet? Before the reunification”

That would be Egon Krenz.
He was sentenced by a unified Germany to 6 1/2 years in prison for the Border Guards “Shoot To Kill” policy.
https://www.theguardian.com/world/1999/oct/28/berlinwall.germany

Over 200 people were killed trying to escape East Germany.

“but this is not a situation that is in any way similar to East and West Germany at the end of the Cold War.”

Very true.
The health of the soldier who bolted the dmz last year shows the divide better than anything.
Historically the NORKS put their best and best fed troops on the border.
If a starving, parasite ridden soldier is an example of their best they are in deep kaka.

Not even the Russians could keep East Germany as closeted as the Kims have kept Norklandia.
Its called the Hermit Kingdom for a good reason.
They are stuck in the late 1940’s.

No. He’s been pushing the ‘trust sessions’ meme forever now. When I was on twitter, I had to mute or block the moron because everyone kept retweeting him.

This wictor clown is another Q like doofus who thinks he has the inside secret info. He is another fraud and huckster.

It is pretty obvious to me that the NK message says absolutely nothing about needing to reunify the South and North. What this is is just a poor understanding and translation of English and that is why it is so stilted, using incorrect language. Obviously the North does not employ folks who write perfect English. This gibberish is the result.

Wictor is just another nut seeking attention.

This is an abuse of the “News” section. But I can’t care more than the moderators.

“This wictor clown is another Q like doofus who thinks he has the inside secret info. He is another fraud and huckster”
___________
Wictor has never said that he has inside information ... he is a musician and writer living in some Hispanic hellhole in Los Angeles and moving to Las Vegas ASAP to join his brother.

Thomas has been upfront about who he is and how he arrives at his conclusions. His powers of observation have been his strength so far.

Do you think his interpretation of the north korean message evinces strong powers of observation?

_______________
Wictor’s observations are like most things in human life: Better than some - worse than others.

You must have missed my comment to the post: “The mind and spirit soar if this could come to fruition.” I found it a hopeful observation and simply put it out there for the longtime, God fearing Freepers like myself who have sunnier dispositions to consider.

“Try 1340s!”

They’ve heard of WWII so I said 1940’s.
But in many ways you are right, very much a medieval kingdom.

You are very wrong.

Wictor bases all his tweets on open sources (that he links to) and he gives us his analysis of that. He does not claim to be an insider of any sort and is completely upfront that he's just a regular guy with the luxury of time to do Internet research and analysis. He doesn't claim to be correct 100% of the time. Rather, he puts up his sources and analysis and leaves it up to us to look at it and to think and decide for ourselves.

He can be a bit cranky at times but I have a lot of respect for him.
