You act behind the scenes as if you know work needs to be done, never assuming “it’s in the bag”.
What McConnell does is to project weakness in public. Americans see him and think he’s a moral and political weakling. That’s the face of the GOP they see in the Senate. It follows that there is no motivation, no confidence to get to the polls in November. McConnell is building and feeding a self-fulfilling prophecy.
Of course, the outcome is never to be taken for granted, to be “in the bag”. Of course this is true. But rather than cower at the prospect in public, a strong and compelling message needs to be delivered. McConnell is incapable of doing that.
McConnell’s dream is to lose the majority.
