I do not need a gadget to make my life easier. I have legs and hands for that purpose. Walter Cronkite once asked Phyllis Schlafly how she kept herself so fit and trim. She replied: “by walking to the TV during your broadcast and turning it off.” Not all technology should be automatically deemed useful, there is always another issue involved.
I used to think that way, too. I went to pick up a window fan at some bargain place. I had to get the +$10 more model - came with a remote.
The remote turned out to be very convenient, leading me to reconsider remotes for ceiling fans, blinds/drapes, etc.
