Why? They are extremely useful and easy to use. Just say the name of the radio station and it begins playing. Same thing with audible books. Also I love the streaming music. Sometimes I will just give Alexa the year and it plays the top music hits of that year.
Anything associated with the megalomaniac Bezos is not welcomed in my home.
I am the kind that wouldn’t allow one near my house.
From what I’ve heard, I just don’t see the value in having such a device.
Technology is always changing. If I learn more about how it makes your life easier, delivers great service or value to you , better than the alternative, then I will consider getting one .
Some people are early adopters of new technology, and some lag behind, as they wait for family and friends to learn about the devices and tell them how it adds to the whole quality of your life .

Yes mine, which is hell no! I will use my android cell phone to talk to google for a search but that is all. The only reason I do that is it is quicker and easier than typing it on on a cell phone.
