I got one for my husband because he's always asking me the time, the weather, how to spell words. By far the most hours are used for music, but he also uses it for the above mentioned items. He also uses it when watching movies/tv to ask questions like to list the cast of a particular movie, word definitions, historical facts, etc.

He didn't like calling it "Alexa" so I changed it so it now responds to "Computer" instead.

Oh, the other thing he uses a lot is the timer/reminder: “Computer, remind me to call _____ at 9 o’clock.”

"Telescreen" would be more appropriate, except Alexa doesn't have a screen. As a second choice "Big Brother" would do.
