79th & Western used to be a really nice neighborhood. From 79th & Damen all the way to 87th and Western were tree lined streets, stores resturants, etc.

Not anymore! Hasn't been since the early 1970's. It's almost a war zone at times.

I was at the original Rainbow Cone on Western Ave. last summer. Wow has that area changed.

Fond memories of a burger and a smoke at Miss Muffett’s, just about a block east on 79th. Of course that was a different time, when I could ride the bus all the way to Stony, even through some pretty dicey neighborhoods - well, as long as it wasn’t late at night.
