With Memorial Day weekend upon us, it's not all about a day off and a barbeque, it's about honoring and remembering those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. Really, it's something we should be doing all year long, but in Hollywood it's the opposite. They seem to take joy in dragging down our military. I guess it's too much to expect them to show some respect and gratitude to those who defend their right to free speech, though, isn't it?
Let's take a look at 5 ways in which Hollywood portrayed the military unfairly on TV this season.
(Excerpt) Read more at newsbusters.org ...
1. They Perpetuated the PTSD-triggered Killer Veteran Trope
2. They Tried to Turn PTSD into a Joke
3. They Called Serving in the Armed Forces "Cowardice"
4. They Depicted Those Who Serve as Selfish
5. They Portrayed the Military as Full Of Rapists and Bigots.

If they missed this chance, Hollywood is really slipping.
I did not watch any network TV shows at all this year, so I missed out on those insults.
If this is what having money does to your brain, then I will be fine with just being poor.
Sick bastards.
I read them. I am not familiar with these programs or movies. I will make note of their titles now and find out who their sponsors are ASAP.

My Thoughts On PTSD:
One day at the office, one of my young co-workers asked me how it was that I had served multiple tours in Vietnam as a combat infantryman and I didnt get PTSD. My rather flippant answer was I didnt get PTSD in Vietnam, I gave it.
However, this PTSD question made me wonder what PTSD is and what the symptoms are, so I did a little research on the subject and found that I did indeed possess symptoms of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) concerning a traumatic and very stressful incident that occurred during my last tour in Vietnam. I was a professional soldier when the traumatic incident occurred and had accumulated over six years in Vietnam engaged occasionally in close combat with a vicious and cunningly capable enemy, but the traumatic event was not as a result of close combat with this enemy.
One day when I was totally focused on closing with and destroying the enemy, something caught my eye, I looked around and found a new enemy had unexpectedly appeared behind me; it was the American people. The same Democrat Party who had originally sent me to Vietnam promising that, We shall pay any price, bear any burden, meet any hardship, support any friend, oppose any foe, in order to assure the survival and success of liberty, had now sided with the Communists I was fighting. They were parading in the streets of the United States under a Viet Cong flag, were quoting from Maos Red Book, and were spitting on and flinging insults at returning Vietnam Veterans. Then, a Democrat led Congress cut off funding for the Vietnam War, American combat troops were withdrawn and we abandoned a valiant ally to their fate. I was ordered out of the country in 1972, and when I arrived at Travis Air Force Base/Oakland Army Terminal, purposely in the dark of the night, I was advised to change out of my uniform and put on civilian clothing to avoid being attacked by the American people when I entered San Francisco.
I was not at all surprised when a few decades later these same American people elected a Marxist-Communist as President of my country.
Yes, the deep, burning hatred I feel for the Democrat Party to this day could be diagnosed as a symptom of PTSD, and I assure you, every Vietnam Veteran I know feels the same way.
They are doing the same thing to the current veterans that was done to the Vietnam Veterans over 40 years ago.
Post of the day, sir!
I served a few years later than you, but saw the same thing. The enemy was inside DC.
To this day my friend is still bitter, especially since his Grandson signed up for the Navy a few months ago and will report after H.S Graduation next month. He does not want the same thing to happen to his grandson.
Thank you for your service.

Meanwhile, that F'ker is still out there sowing seeds of discontent regarding Iran...
Thank you for expressing my thoughts and feelings.
RVN 69-70.
TCM has been running what look like good military movies from what I saw.
Kelly’s Heroes was on last night before I had to wrap.
I know what Donald Sutherland is in real life, but Oddball was the best part of the movie.

“My Thoughts On PTSD”
PBS had Memorial Day special last night. A former soldier who was affected by his wartime experiences called it Post Traumatic Stress. He refused to put the “Disorder” on the end because the debilitating reactions are a normal human response to the particular experiences.
