Four years later, alleged assault by Sheriff Israel's son becomes a news story
Miami Herald ^ | 26-27 (Update) May 18

Posted on 05/29/2018 4:56:27 AM PDT by ameribbean expat

In mid-February of 2014, two 17-year-old Marjory Stoneman Douglas students assaulted a 14-year-old baseball player near the high school stadium. They kicked the boy, a police report said, held him to the ground and simulated a sexual assault through the teen's clothing with a baseball bat.

One of the assailants was Broward Sheriff Scott Israel's son, Brett Israel, according to the incident report.

When the attack was reported to authorities, Brett Israel and the other 17-year-old, Anthony Broderick, were not arrested. They were suspended from the Parkland high school for three days based on the school's conclusion that they had committed a simple battery, and that the suspension was consistent with the Broward County School District's discipline "matrix." **** Parents of some of the Feb. 14 victims, understandably upset with the Broward Sheriff's Office's response to the massacre — at least one deputy failed to enter the school even as Cruz pumped bullets into mortally wounded teens — are demanding that Israel and his son be held accountable, along with the deputy who wrote up the report of the assault. He is Scot Peterson, the same deputy who quit in disgrace after it was learned he never went inside the school to confront the shooter.

Justice delayed is justice denied.

I am heartened that Israel is going down.

I am saddened that the voter base there was so apathetic previously.

>>As a result, the incident has been published, first on a right-leaning news site, then on more traditional outlets.

Blame the messenger?

Can’t claim it’s “fake news”?

A sexual assault is not a simple assault which is allowed to be done under Obama’s “progressive” school rules. This is a pass for the ruling class.

>>In interviews with the Miami Herald over the past two weeks, the now-adult man and his mother said the BSO report on the incident was an accurate portrayal and that the family decided not to press charges of its own accord. “It’s insulting for anyone to think I would be silenced or strong-armed or too dumb to pursue what was fair for my child,” the mother told the Herald. Still, she said the incident was traumatic for her son, who is now thriving in college. “We just want to move on,” she said.

So #MeToo is just for women, then? Censure and MoveOn.org, shall we?

From what I have learned, the same rules were applied to the sheriff’s son and the unhinged murderer of 17.

That is, there is no crime at school. All crime is just ignored to keep black boys out of jail at the direction of Barack Obama and the NAACP. The results are unintended consequences

Also, there are no records of how many acctual crimes by black boys were swept under the various rugs

Reading the story it’s obvious the paper is bending over backward to exonerate the cops. That said, it is possible that the “punishment” fit the crime...as far as it went.

What’s missing (not addressed by the paper) is, why wasn’t Brett Israel’s assault not charged as or at least discussed in terms of sex crime? He groped the boy/victim and simulated sexual assault with a baseball bat.

>>They zeroed in on a program called PROMISE, pioneered in Broward and championed by then-President Barack Obama, that sought to divert non-violent, non-serious offenders from the state juvenile justice system

Apparently it was “non-sexual” and “non-violent” assault???

If 2 17-year old males had done exactly the same thing to a 14-year old female athlete, would the outcome have been the same?

Shhh, Promise not to tell!

The paper is definitely is spin control mode (also explaining why they sat on the story until it became too big to ignore week later).

There is no other justification for including photos and coverage of Hogg’s die-in political contribution financial shakedown in this same article about a sexual assault and bully action from 4 years ago. NO reason at all to link the 2 stories into one.

Just a question, because I do not know all the information, was Cruz the assaulted 14 year old?

I’m not big on the bullying/victimhood defense, but who’d a thunk it that when the Left engineers a system that dishes out gross humiliating abuse, denies the victim justice, and leaves the abusers in place, the pot is bound to boil over into ultra-violence? Their solution is to remove the means of self-defense and revenge. Tragedy resulting from Justice Denied is one of the oldest themes in literature for a reason.

Guaranteed there are many more investigations Broward Co. has swept under the rug and more than one innocent person sitting in prison due to these clowns. There needs to be a full investigation of all their cases for the past 20 years if not longer. But who to do it? Certainly not the FBI as they have had their fingers in Broward Co. long before the hanging chads.

Apparently it was “non-sexual” and “non-violent” assault???

Does anybody remember when the 1974 TV movie Born Innocent starring Lina Blair had all sorts of controversy over a scene about a prison rape with a plunger handle? How is what these boys did any different than what was depicted in that movie, other than actual penetration?

There is more action against senior classmen when such a thing is done against a young male and called HAZING.
