Howie comes on as a bemused comic on the radio a lot of the time, but he has huge brass ones for taking these people on. And, his books are well researched and well written. The two I read were “The Brothers Bulger” and “Hitman,” about Johnny Martorano.
Plus if I am not mistaken, Mr. Carr was threatened a few times by Mr. Bulger.
