BREAKING: Virginia Senate Votes To Expand Medicaid, Setting Up Final Passage

After years of political battles and weeks of procedural delays, the Virginia State Senate voted 23 to 17 Wednesday afternoon to expand Medicaid to cover between 300,000 and 400,000 more low-income residents. Four Republicans joined every Senate Democrat in voting for the expansion.

When the bill is signed into law, as expected later this week, Virginia will join 33 states and the District of Columbia in expanding Medicaid under the Affordable Care Act — though Maine is currently fighting the expansion’s implementation.

Virginia State Sen. Emmett Hanger Jr. (R), the sponsor of the Medicaid expansion amendment whose support got the measure over the finish line, appealed to his colleagues Wednesday in a drawn-out, heated floor debate to vote yes.

“We have the ability to move something through that’s very sure in these uncertain times,” he said. “We can develop a uniquely Virginia plan. While it draws from the experience of many states that have been out there before us, it will serve our citizens.”

Now, the state’s House of Delegates has to vote to adopt the Senate bill or go to conference to resolve the differences between the two chambers, something that could happen within the next few days. Gov. Ralph Northam (D), elected last November in a “blue wave” election in which Medicaid expansion was a key campaign issue, has vowed to sign it into law.

Virginia will be solidly blue like their neighbor, The People’s Republic of Maryland.
****************************************************
Well, statewide it will be blue. But, like Maryland, it will be blue by virtue of a blue corridor (in Maryland, it’s Montgomery County, Prince George’s County, part of Howard county and Baltimore city) surrounded by a sea of red in the rest of the state. Both states’ blue “ruling” corridors are dominated by government employees, government contractors and compliant welfare wards of the government.

“”expand Medicaid to cover between 300,000 and 400,000””

COVER MORE????? Or to cover 300,000-400,000? Come on - there can’t be that many MORE unless they’re counting all the illegals..And of course, silly me, that’s what they do.

Virginia went bad when W. reduced interior and border enforcement after 9/11.
We were overrun with illegal aliens in a very short time.
The change was staggering.

That’s a whole bunch!!! And that was 4 years ago - it’s now what? Looked for “other” stats in the article but of course, that wouldn’t be revealed...such as citizens, employed/unemployed, LEGAL or ILLEGAL - HA!

“”In 2014, about 80 million individuals were enrolled in
Medicaid, or 25.9 percent of the total United States population””

“”Aunt Jemima could win the Georgia governorship.””

Can’t help but notice that the commercials during evening TV programming have mixed couples and/or a black in every commercial. None too subtle!

“Texas will fall eventually.”

That’s interesting.

Texas hasn’t elected a rat governor since Ann Richards in 1991.

So, explain to everyone how Texas will fall. If I recall correctly, not a single rat holds a state-wide office.

PEW estimates. LOL! (An estimate is a guess.)

I can pull out PEW research that shows that the Hispanic birth rate leveled off in 2007 and has been falling since.

Leftists predicted in the 1970s that white people would be a minority by the year 2000. (These same leftists predicted that the Amazon rainforest would be gone by that same year.) Whites are still 70% of the population in 2018.

Spare me the leftist, lying statistics.

I live in Texas, the reality is that demographics is destiny.

“I live in Texas, the reality is that demographics is destiny.”

Then accept the reality that no rat has been elected governor for nearly 30 years, and no rat holds statewide office in Texas. You’re getting your demographic data from leftists whose sole purpose is to demoralize and defeat conservatives.

I said in time it will fall. I see it with my own eyes. But, continue to ignore reality.
