The salary difference between college and non-college is also skewed due to the college side having high earners in the engineering and science fields, and the non-college side having an overabundance of people working low-salary jobs.

True...college can be good...but what i.have seen is lots of waywardness and drunkenness....just cause you got good grades doesnt mean you know how to apply that knowledge to real world problems...
And please stop wholesale taxpayer funded subsidies....the next cinematographer will most likely not save the world.

Mankind survived for thousands of years just talking. How many folks today really need to know how to read, write & cipher?

I think going to a top notch college can be a great move... if someone else pays the freight.

If you really want to see the value of a college education first hand and enjoy fantasy, work with a newly minted MBA!

I'm dubious. I don't think one can learn physics, chemistry, or any branch of engineering, without college or something very much lik it.

My undergrad education was at a liberal arts college. I thought all the time I spent in liberal arts courses was a waste. I was going to be a physicist. Why did I have to take courses in history, government, literature, composition, and a foreign language?

Well, some fifty years later, I know why. I spent a career as a scientist, in and out of the Air Force. Those liberal arts courses have stood me in good stead over the years. My technical education taught me how to do something. My liberal education taught me why some things were worth doing and some were not. I wouldn't trade that liberal education for anything.

For most, college is nothing more than daycare with sex and alcohol.

2 yr College Tech Schools require higher Math, and some other stuff besides the Tech. Hubby taught Electronics/Computers at a JR College for 20 yrs ended up Dept Chair. That was after 20 yrs doing and teaching the same things in the Navy, Retiring as a SCPO. Had to get Teachers Degree to do it.
