Poll: Cruz Leads Beto O’Rourke among Hispanic Voters in Texas Senate Race

Senator Ted Cruz (R., Texas) is leading democratic challenger Beto O’Rourke by two percentage points among Hispanic voters in his campaign for another term, according to a Quinnipiac University poll released Wednesday.

The poll, which found that Cruz leads O’Rourke 46 to 44 percent among Hispanics, is a troubling sign for O’Rourke, who has tailored his campaign around his advocacy for racial minorities.

Equally troubling for the O’Rourke camp is the finding that Cruz has expanded his overall lead in the race from three points (47 percent to 44 percent) in April to a commanding eleven points (50 percent to 39 percent) today. O’Rourke, who currently represents El Paso as a member of the House, does however maintain a significant advantage among black voters, leading Cruz 70 percent to 15 percent.

Peter A. Brown, the assistant director of the Quinnipiac Poll, attributed much of Cruz’s newfound success to a general improvement in public opinion of the national Republican party.

“O’Rourke, who currently represents El Paso as a member of the House, does however maintain a significant advantage among black voters, leading Cruz 70 percent to 15 percent.”

Imagine that,70/15! Who would have thought?

It is amazing that 15 percent of blacks would tell a pollster that they support Ted Cruz.

“Hispanic” is meaningless. Cruz is Cuban, which carries little weight to those with Mexican ancestry. It would be like saying that an Irishman was leading with Italian voters because they are “European.”

O’Rourke is a poser, and Cruz has done exactly what Texas voters asked of him six years ago. That is why he is leading. That “Hispanic” voters are leaning to him just reinforces the fact that O’Rourke is not connecting with Democrat leaning voters in Texas.

I expect that O’Rourke will fare about as well as “Abortion Barbie” did.

If a Democrat is only leading black voters 70-15% he is doomed. They count on taking over 90% of the black vote, 70% is very bad news for O’Rourke.

TX Democrats are obsessed with O’Rourke and already consider him as good as elected.

The Democrats have to be PULLING THEIR HAIR OUT. They flood Texas with Hispanic voter registration drives and what do those ‘damn Hispanics’ do? In 2014, they vote 41% Republican, helping the Dems a bit, but not nearly enough because they also drive the whites to vote 75% Republican (the Dems lost every statewide election by 20 points in 2014).

...and now Cruz, of all people, is doing even better with Hispanics, TOTALLY NEUTRALIZING the Hispanic vote, buy splitting it evenly (so far).

At that point you have whites again at 75% and blacks at 90% Democrat, at best (Trump is cutting into that) - and in a black/white race, blacks are outnumbered 6:1, so even a solid black vote for the Democrats only works if the white vote is less than 60% Republican...and it isn’t, not in Texas.

The bottom line: Even Hispanics are catching on as to just how far Left the Democrat Party is not, with the best example of that being their defense of men and boys being allowed FULL ACCESS to school-aged girls’ locker rooms, if they claim that they happen to ‘feel female’ that day. Blacks also aren’t too hot on that, so expect some drift there too.

“Imagine that,70/15! Who would have thought?”

Actually, that’s pretty darn good! That shows Cruz at nearly 20% if you take out the undecides...he can THANK Trump for that level of support among blacks - virtually unheard of before Trump, and it absolutely destroys Democrat chances in Texas, and in most other states (except MA and CA).

“Actually, that’s pretty darn good!”

Actually, you’re absolutely right! My comment was to the effect that those numbers are also a “reiminder” of the abysmal record of Blacks getting a real understanding of their “plight” after all these years. Still I am encouraged. I have a standing Christmas lunch with an old friend and former employee who is Black. When Trump was still a candidate, when he arrived at the restaurant, his FIRST QUESTION to me was WHO YA GONNA VOTE FOR? When I told him Trump, his response was GOOD MAN! Now mind you this man is well-educated, but he had been a life-long Democrat. There seems to be cognitive dissonance in the Black “community” with their continuing “fealty” to the RAT Party in the face of massive evidence that the RATs never actually do anything to really help Blacks. Blacks are, so it seems to me, to be the RAT Party’s “Palestinians!”

And Dems will stay home over their Gov candidate, further widening the gap.

Good story. If the Dems had simply stuck with civil rights and a bit of tough love (i.e., Bill Clinton), they’d keep their 90% support level.

But when the Dems go hard-core into the LGBT arena, blacks have to be asking themselves: “Who the hell are these people?”
