Poll: Cruz Leads Beto O’Rourke among Hispanic Voters in Texas Senate Race

Senator Ted Cruz (R., Texas) is leading democratic challenger Beto O’Rourke by two percentage points among Hispanic voters in his campaign for another term, according to a Quinnipiac University poll released Wednesday.

The poll, which found that Cruz leads O’Rourke 46 to 44 percent among Hispanics, is a troubling sign for O’Rourke, who has tailored his campaign around his advocacy for racial minorities.

Equally troubling for the O’Rourke camp is the finding that Cruz has expanded his overall lead in the race from three points (47 percent to 44 percent) in April to a commanding eleven points (50 percent to 39 percent) today. O’Rourke, who currently represents El Paso as a member of the House, does however maintain a significant advantage among black voters, leading Cruz 70 percent to 15 percent.

Peter A. Brown, the assistant director of the Quinnipiac Poll, attributed much of Cruz’s newfound success to a general improvement in public opinion of the national Republican party.

As of 2010, TX was almost 37.6% Hispanic. Even when you slice off the non-citizens (green card holders and illegals), they are a sizeable demographic. That Cruz is beating the Wispanic (Hispanic-acting white guy), among the Hispanics polled, is encouraging. Kinda funny that Cruz has the American-sounding name - Ted - and O'Rourke has the Spanish-sounding Beto.

The left reels over cultural appropriation; yet it’s OK for a white guy to appropriate a Hispanic sounding name solely to appeal to Hispanics. So transparent.

You might say O’Rourke’s Hispanic by way of the British Isles, which the Spanish Armada attempted to invade.

O’Rourke is a fourth-generation Irish American,[3] born in El Paso, the son of Melissa Martha (Williams) and El Paso County Judge Pat Francis O’Rourke.

Cruz should bitch slap him into submission and rub it in. Just think. They can’t play the race card in this one or the gender crap.

What do you expect them to do? Vote for their own or some crazy Irishman who did too many drugs in the ‘70s?

Not so strange, really when you consider that Bernardo O’Higgins is considered the great liberator of Chile

To judge by yard signs, Beto has it in the bag. But, you have to account for the fact that conservatives aren’t allowed to have yard signs without inviting property damage.

It wouldn’t be a bad thing for Cruz fans to fear he’s in trouble. We need conservatives to actually get out and vote, and that could lift all boats.

I just assume that all the people that don’t have yard signs are for Cruz. I’m tempted to put a Cruz sign in my yard just to see what happens.

I’m sure I could do it in my neighborhood. I don’t know about a Trump sign. Our crime is mostly people driving through at night to steal mail or commit crimes of opportunity like seeing an open garage door, but that might be just the people to flip out over a Trump sign.

Where in TX are you? Can’t you shoot someone for even trespassing there? I’d think if you can put out a Cruz sign anywhere w/o fear of property damage, it’d be TX, but who knows. I still think Beto will end up being Wendy Davis II.

How about a sign that says ‘Thanks Kanye’.

Dallas suburbs. Even if I could shoot them, that doesn’t mean I’ll even know they’re out there messing around.

I tried that with a Trump/Pence sign...the sign was stolen THAT night. I’m lucky my house wasn’t egged.

Beto is not Hispanic. He and DeBlazio are guilty of culture appropriation.

the dems have had delusions of turning TX blue since that foolish woman that was famous for wearing tennis shoes.

it’s a guaranteed recipe for frustration.
