Rudy Giuliani is turning the Mueller probe on its head
Spectator USA ^ | May 30, 2018 | Byron York

Donald Trump got bad reviews in the press — no surprise — when he announced that Rudy Giuliani, the former New York City mayor and federal prosecutor, would join his legal team in the Trump-Russia special counsel investigation. The 74-year-old Giuliani is not as sharp as he was, some said, and isn’t really a practising lawyer any more. How can you effectively defend the President by slipping out of fatcat dinners at New York steakhouses for quick hits on Fox News? That was then. Now, it appears hiring Giuliani was a key part of a new and effective Trump strategy. Just a few months ago, Trump was cooperating with special counsel Robert Mueller, mostly refraining from attacking him directly, and hoping the investigation would somehow go away. Now, Trump is waging and, if the polls are correct, winning a political war on him. ‘He has turned this investigation on its head,’ one Trump campaign veteran said recently, with much admiration. Trump’s resurgence happens to coincide with the growing realisation that Mueller might never make his much-anticipated collusion case against the President — the charge that the Trump campaign conspired or coordinated with Russia to rig the 2016 election. And that, in turn, is creating political ripples: Democrats who were hoping Mueller would hand them a ready-to-use case against Trump are worried that appearing overly eager to bring down the President could cost them in November’s midterm elections.

I'm sure that many inside the Beltway are coming to the realization that the effort to overthrow the government is over. This article explains why.

The 74-year-old Giuliani is not as sharp as he was, some said, and isn’t really a “practising” lawyer any more.

So, he lost his religion?

This is sort of a "chicken vs. egg" thing, but what's happened here is that for almost a year now, the Democrats have been trotting out their misfits and moonbats to go on TV and rant about impeaching Trump.

The upside to this strategy is that it only paints a humiliating and pathetic picture of misfits and moonbats like Maxine (James Brown) Waters who are never going to lose in their own districts anyway.

The downside to this strategy is that voters OUTSIDE those districts get a sense that the Democrat Party is dominated by ... well, by misfits and moonbats.

Now, it appears [that .......] was a key part of a new and effective Trump strategy.

How many times are "journalists" going to use this phrase? :-)

I learned years ago that “journalists” are ignorant, lazy, and biased. That’s about all you need to know about them to explain their behavior.

Since coming on board to represent Trump, I think Rudy has done a pretty good job of coming at Mueller from all different directions. Mueller has no idea where the next salvo is coming from. Rudy is staying on offense despite a few awkward moments from time to time.

On balance he has proven to be a scrappy fighter and a valuable asset.

Wonder when robots will replace journalists/reports? If they can replace burger flippers, a highly skilled job with robots, then replacing a lightly skilled job, reporting should prove to be very easy.

Robots would have to be taught to lie and deceive.

We still live in America, Mueller doesn’t have anything iron clad, the best he might do is a semantic nuanced fake charge and that will be seen as VERY POLITICAL. IN SHORT, HER SHOULD WRAP IT UP AS HE WON’T BE ABLE TO HELP DEMS OVERTURN THE ELECTION.

Rudy has certainly positioned Mueller to look like he’s dishonest if he focused anything negative toward Trump in his final report. We all know Mueller will take a shot at Trump and Rudy will say “where did that come from? He assured me Trump wasn’t even a target.”

You know it is interesting, Rush, this afternoon said the problem is the “media” because there are no “journalists”. Interesting distinction.

"On balance he has proven to be a scrappy fighter and a valuable asset."

Somebody should post the photoshopped picture of Rudy pushing Hillary off the NY subway platform. I believe it was made back in 2000 when he was running for the Senate, but had to withdraw due to treatment for prostate cancer.

Not every pick has been perfect but I’m surprised that anyone is surprised that someone who has hired myriad people, including I’m sure many lawyers, over the years would know how to hire quality people.

I've read all the comments here and despite Giuliani's anti-Mueller PR offensive, I see no indication that Mueller's witch-hunt will end anytime soon. You can bank on this - unless Trump, Sessions or Rosenweasel end Mueller's investigation before the 2018 elections, there will be an October surprise fully supported by the lame-stream media, DNC and RINOs.

Mueller's objective remains unchanged - weaken or bring down the President.

It's by God's grace that President Trump has been able to withstand traitorous: Democrats, RINOs, main-stream media & Hollywood.

We need to keep praying and intervening for the President and the republic.
