Is it “settled,” or is it “science?”

Cannot be both.

Nope. There are no social conditions that would make you personally (if you are heterosexual) want sex with another man. See my previous post just above. I was listening to the Cosby victim describing her drugged state during the rape. This could be you. A male rapist could put it into your drink and you’d be unable to fight or speak. Would that make you gay?

Many adult men who were molested by priests or authority figures as children ARE NOTHING BUT STRAIGHT.

That is true. But you also have to take into account those who were abused and are now gay. I don't think the abuse alone made them gay, but it probably pushed them in that direction when they weren't 100% sure to go that way. So the abuse didn't cause the homosexuality, but in some young people it does have an influence.

You didn’t say ‘sex,’ you said kiss.

More than half of people living as “homosexuals” don’t want sex from the relationship; they just have to put up with it to get the rest of the deal.

Homo sex is a behavior that has to be learned.

Some learn to enjoy it, while most just learn to live with it.

Sure ... if you buy that you were probably also certain Hillary would defeat Donald in a landslide. Grass roots Americans know what "natural" is, and have seen with their own eyes that to leftists sexual "nurturing" is tantamount to sexual "abuse".

Half of Americans in Gallup's 2018 Values and Beliefs poll say that being gay or lesbian is a trait from birth, easily eclipsing the 30% who believe it is a product of upbringing and environment.

Because the libs have done an outstanding PR job for the queers. Only reason.

Being a queer is an abomination in God's eyes. The Bible says so, multiple times.

In many cases, it may be a response to unfortunate incidents in individuals’ lives.

In other cases, it may literally be something in the water.

In other cases, there may be a genetic factor, but THAT DOES NOT MEAN that it is a good thing.

A lot of genetic problems are hereditary.

That doesn’t mean they’re good.

Not as much as mental illness IMHO

I agree with you that they probably did not choose that lifestyle. But that doesn't mean an adult did not choose to sexually abuse them in their youth. It doesn't mean they did not choose to experiment with drugs. It doesn't mean they were not brainwashed into sexual experimentation by the media (and liberal elementary schools these days). To my research these individuals are, more frequently than not, victims. And "born that way" has nothing to do with being victimized. Victimization is what the leftists consider "nurturing".

“Around puberty, or even years before, kids feel attraction to one gender or the other. You (plural to all FReepers) did. Not every child is attracted to the opposite sex, even if they were never groomed or molested by either sex.

Face it. Attraction is NOT a choice at that age. A boy who wants another boy to kiss him, the way you may have wanted a cute girl to kiss you, didn’t choose it, wasn’t forced into it.

BS.Total BS. Nothing but BS.

Homosexuality is a learned behavior and usually brought on, encourage, and demonstrated by other homosexuals.

Homosexuality is a mental illness.

50% are below the mean. The average could be something else, depending on the distribution.

Mean is the average of all the data in a set. Median is the middle value of the set of data. Mode is the one that occurs most often in a set of data. The difference between the largest and smallest data is the range.

I've studied the science on this since 1991 and can say the following with full confidence:

For those on this forum who think homosexuals are born that way, please provide a scientific study supporting your beliefs. The problem is, you can't. Nor can you provide a credible scientist who will state homosexuals are born that way.

You believe what you believe not from science, but from your own experience, bias and what you've been led to believe by reporters misrepresenting science.

Now, science being science, a time may come when scientists find something we can discuss. But at this time, gay scientists (like Simon LeVay) do not think science will ever find a gay gene or anything that causes same-sex attraction. And they say that because they know environment plays a major factor in determining our sexuality.

If you disagree, by all means, provide a scientific study.

I have not studied any research, i will just report what I’ve seen.

As a younger guy I tried to have an open mind about these things, and one day while sunning at a local park, there was a loudspeaker playing this crazy thumping music. And as I listend it had a voice over saying “A typical male rapes 3 women in his lifetime” and “A typical male beats 10 women in his life” and a bunch of other stuff..

I walked over and I was going to ask them if they really believe all this stuff, and they all looked at me like they wanted to kill me.

But the OTHER thing most prominent was that they did not look like women. Although they clearly were, they acted and walked and carried themselves so much like men that I expected to see beards and mustaches. There was absolutely nothing ‘feminine’ about them.

Right then and there I realized it was something genetic.

They had too many male hormones, or something... but they scared the crap out of me (And I am 6’4 and 220)

Right then and there I realized it was something genetic.

You don't know it's something genetic nor if it was too many male hormones. That is your observation based on very little data.

We have to look at all the data. Science doesn't support the born-that-way theory, and those who have left the gay life offer additional data people can change.

You made some great points.

I agree with you that they probably did not choose that lifestyle.

I think it's best to say homosexuals don't choose their same-sex attraction, but they aren't born that way either. They do choose to engage in same-sex behavior. I think our sexuality is probably one of the most complex topics to discuss.

There are some men who were abused as young boys who end up gay. Those who were abused around puberty, though, may have been more attracted to men anyway and might have longed for the adult male romantic attention, the same way a 13 year old girl thinks the 25 year old man is in love with her. Hard to tease out those two differences.

By far most men abused by priests still end up heterosexual as adults. Because they were.

I don’t remember chasing my sexual preference. One day in 5th grade, I asked Iris Cooper to go to movie. We held hands and kissed lightly at the end. That started a trend in my life. LOL. Was that nature or nurture?
