The child reporter who asked White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders what the Trump administration was doing to prevent school shootings said the day after his press briefing appearance that he and his fellow students face "constant worry" about the threat.
In a Thursday interview with ABC's "Good Morning America," Benje Choucroun, 13, a seventh grader in Marin, Calif., said that he wanted to "make a difference" by asking the question.
"I think that in a lot of schools around this country, there's this worry that, you know, our school could be next it could be added to the list of Columbine, Parkland, Santa Fe," Choucroun said.
"There's always that constant worry," he added.
Choucroun drew attention at a White House press briefing on Wednesday when he asked Sanders how the Trump administration was addressing gun violence in schools and what it planned to do to prevent "senseless tragedies."
"As a kid and certainly as a parent, there is nothing that could be more terrifying for a kid to go to school and not feel safe, Sanders said in response, her voice trembling as she answered. "So Im sorry that you feel that way."
She added that the administration was taking the matter "seriously," and said that the White House's school safety commission would meet this week to "discuss the best ways forward and how we can do every single thing within our power to protect kids in our schools."

Immigration, gun 'control', welfare reform.
Of course this child is scared. The adults who should be protecting him from such adult news are the ones telling him to be afraid.
Most children his age wouldn't know about a school shooting unless an adult told them the news and it's likely they're learning to fear school shooting from their teachers who should be protecting them from this kind of emotional trauma.
I saw that when it happened. You know who else used children??? Mao, Hitler just to name a couple.

STOP Watching television, stay away from Hollywood and the Pro Sports and Entertainment, and get OUT OF THE PUBLIC SCHOOL SYSTEM!
Well Benje, tell your classmates to stop shooting up the schools every time some bully “disses” them. That would just about take care of your “constant worry”.
David Hogg’s fellow student killed all the people.
A STUDENT is the KILLER.
Don’t hurt innocent gun owners who were nowhere near the place.
Watch the students. Some are potential killers. Don’t shelter these creeps’ records and keep the documents hidden. Tell the truth that they are threatening to kill people.
Students kill.
Maybe the honor system isn’t the most effective form of school security.
Kids today got it easy. When I was a kid we were constantly worried about getting nuked by the Russians
What agency? Which member of journolist wrote the question for him?

Of course nobody fed him these talking points. Perhaps he could convince his peers to remove murder from the list of options when dealing with life’s trials and tribulations.
Castro did it well, i heard Ted Cruzs father tell about castro in his classroom. This was corroborated by an elderly Cuban i know.
And then the Communists took over academia and those fears went away (but not the genuine threat of Russian nuclear weaponry...)
Given the pervasiveness of all kinds of media now, I don’t think adults can protect children from ‘news’ anymore. We must train them in morality, and to think and discriminate.
I remember when the Clinton/Lewinsky scandal was taking place, and we mostly had television. A friend of mine bemoaned the fact that he had to deal with questions about sexual practices from his young daughter because she had heard things on the television news or at school.
Even those (relatively innocent) days are long gone...
You know, that is a very obvious point that I had not even considered. Students have shot up their own schools.
Heres another idea: outlaw murder. Hang the guilty in a public square = disincentive for criminal behavior.
Any kid who really worries about being the victim of a school shooting should refuse to get in any motor vehicle driven by another student, and should avoid bicycle riding, lakes, swimming pools, rivers and the ocean, and skiing.
Oh please
I was scared to death of tornadoes as a kid
But I sure didn’t sit in class ALL DAY and WORRY about them
Using these kids as props is so juvenile and dishonest
I had a friend who had the same concerns.
But does the “media” give a damn? NO it’s all about them
