I remember that drill. I lived in Vegas during the Cuban missile crises. Nellis AFB was busy. I remember even then why we didn’t sink those Rusky trawlers and I was just a kid.
I went to a boarding school in ninth grade, on the banks of The Hudson River. This was during the period of detente, when The Cold War had thawed, a bit. As a peaceful gesture, a Russian trawler made a trip from NYC to the Albany area. One of my classmates was a model rocket hobbyist, so we came up with the neat idea to shoot one off, at the Rooskies. Fortunately, our lack of execution ability was equal to out lack of critical thinking skills.....
