Remarks came after Assad told Russian broadcaster RT he would not hesitate to use force to retake the third of the country held by the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).
The SDF, dominated by the militia of a self-proclaimed Kurdish autonomous administration, has air support from the US-led coalition against Daesh

Up to this point, Assad did not make serious offers. It cost 1,000+ live in Afrin. And as a result, reseeded Daesh (ISIS) in NW Syria.

Yes, it is deal time. They US will stay just long enough to make a deal for a peaceful withdraw without throwing people under the bus.

By what right or law is America in Syria and why do they oppose the legitimate government of Syria to liberate its own land?

When did Congress authorize the invasion of Syria?
L
Assad trying to throw his weight around now..... said he has opened the door to ‘negotiations’ with the Kurds.
I think it’s because Irans pulling it’s military leaving him to fend for himself so he’s stepped up to the plate.
Wonder how Erdogan is going to respond if Assad does negotiate with the Kurds.
Too many gas attacks.
Didn’t Trump always say “Why didn’t we keep the oil” well now our guys and allies Re in a position to keep the oil in eastern Syria and northern Iraq. Or at least the refineries in Syria. Smart move by Trump, doing what he said.
is Iran pulling out because of attacks by Israel?
“Kurdishian Forces”?
Obama and Clinton/Kerry mess that is now owned by this administration.
Turkey uses force on Kurds every day and has 15 times as many Kurds as Syria, but we’re not threatening Turkey.
Get out and protect America. Our war is here.
SDF is mixture of Kurd, Assyrian and Arab forces.
Clearly, the most effective of the elements are the Kurds. All know this.
This actually sounds a lot more conciliatory than many of Assad’s past statements - Talking about negotiating and living together as Syrians.
Assad is militarily weak right now, and unable to stop Turkey from annexing parts of Syria. If Iran gets out, or Israel gets in (both seem to grown more possible in the last month), he will be in a world of hurt. I imagine that cash flows from Iran are crashing all around Syria, and things are starting to break.
He may need a deal with the Kurds - so no need to sell cheap, if the customer has to buy.
The oil fields are a strong card, Tabqa Dam is a strong card, the US military support is a strong card (a Trump card), if they take the Abu Kamal Border Crossing, it will be a strong card, and the possibility to bring Gulf Arab reconstruction money in (or jihadi support out) is a strong card. The Kurds hold a lot of cards.
In the past Assad has negotiated with them.
He did not in Afrin.
He told them to surrender to the IRGC and the Quds forces, disarm and take allegamce to him. They refused the offer and Assad/Putin told Turkey to “go for it”
That lead to the fall of Afrin.
It was funny.
The Kurds allied with NATO to oppose Syrian government, but whinge about Assad not preventing Turkey (a member of NATO) from attacking them.
*** It’s time to play “lets make a deal”. ***
Misleading headline by AFP. Assad said he has begun negotiating with Kurds and prefers reuniting Syria peacefully. But if there are those who don’t want to negotiate, he will use force.
He did not negotiate before. They had meeting prior to Afrin (Efrin), but he only demanded. And his demands were refused.
I don’t think their refusal was a mistake. But it cost 1,000 lives. Horrible price, but slavery is also a very bad option.
