I have, yet another, dumb question: Why does the USN want to put a smaller (and presumably less capable) deck gun on its frigates?
In this age of cyber warfare, is a plug and play navy ship a good idea ? ?
Another admission that the useless LCS program has failed.
The Navy goes Commando?
The Navy needs these qualities in a Frigate:
1. No more than 5,000 tons.
2. 8,000 nm range
3. 35+ knots
4. Baby Aegis (must connect/share with other Aegis ships)
5. 40 VLS tubes
6. A dozen drones with hanger and helo.
You sold me with the FIVE expresso machines.
Very cool and capable ship. I especially like that they provide extra room for the crew. My only concern is its top speed of 30 knots. Seem like it may have an issue keeping up with a carrier that decides it needs to be elsewhere in a hurry.
