SWEET ADELINE: “WHY WAS I BORN?”

This is early Sinatra from the Axel Stordahl era with his lush orchestrations.

Yes, he was underrated and it's a shame.

While trying to dig up stuff for tonight, I ran across videos of him and Ken Hensley performing together. I didn't know they'd done that!

I cannot get used to Windows 10. I do not like it at all.

Windows 7 for me!

Sorry about your keyboard.

SWEET ADELINE: “WHY WAS I BORN?”

Progressive jazz was the hallmark of the Fifties for those not into rock and roll. This is a surprisingly tender arrangement of the tune, very relaxed for Coltrane.

SWEET ADELINE: “WHY WAS I BORN?”

Ella turned to Jerome’s songs in 1963 with backing by Nelson Riddle. Her diction is perfect as usual.

I was late to the Canteen tonight because I watched "Blade Runner 2049" on HBO.

I stopped actually going to the movies in 1990.

I think that’s about the same time I quit going. Weren’t worth the money...even if the popcorn was good. LOL!

I was kind of late, too. Was doing some more sorting through closets. ugh.

SWEET ADELINE: “WHY WAS I BORN?”

When Mitch Miller signed Aretha in the early Sixties, neither he nor Columbia knew what to do with her – which is why she ended up at Ahmet Ertegun’s Atlantic label under producer Jerry Wexler in 1967. This is an early effort from her Columbia years. Note that she is one of the best piano players in the game.

Wow, lucky Melinda!
I saw Ken perform in Raleigh in the ‘80s but can’t remember which year now. Slept a couple of times since then. LOL

I wasn’t all that hot on Lawton with Uriah Heep for some reason but loved him with Lucifer’s Friend. I still have their first album.

You don’t normally think of Dylan and the Great American Songbook in the same sentence. This surprise is from 2017.
