Construction started Friday on the US-Mexico border wall project at ...San Diego County.

The work will replace about 14 miles of scrap metal wall that stands up to 10 feet high with a wall between 18 and 30 feet tall. The new wall will also have an anti-climbing plate.

Crews will build the wall starting half a mile from the Pacific Ocean, east to the bottom of Otay Mountain in East County.

Yeah, this is not the wall - this is repairing/replacing our existing crap wall which didn’t work that well. The real wall is still not funded.

It’s the wealthy corrupt in control, at the top. And it’s corrupt on down. That fish rotted from the head to tail.

Corruption. It goes from the lowest in government all the way to the top.

Brilliant turn of phrase, there; we should sell it to the left like that. “No worries, Senator Fineswine, it’s not so much new construction as it is a beautification project. The existing wall is just — well it’s an eyesore, but it’ll be gorgeous once we get this renovation done.”

Muhuhuhu-ha-ha-ha-ha-haaa!

I wonder what an "anti-climbing" section might look like?

Perhaps a large smooth section covered in huge painted murals, in the best Mexican tradition.

But what kinds of murals should we paint to discourage climbing? A few ideas ---

"Why does Mexico suck so much?"

Q: Why doesn't Baja California fall into the ocean?

A: Because California sucks.

The largest newspaper in Mexico 'El Nacional' thinks Alex Baldwin

IS President Trump! LOLOLOL

Here is a thought, tell Alec Baldwin we need him to a comedy tour as Trump in Mexico with a full "presidential escort" consisting of liberal actors playing his secret security agents, have him tour in any moderately crappy part of mexico, then tell the cartels about the intentionally bad security.

We get rid of Alec Baldwin and we also have a good excuse to build the wall another 10ft higher!

Baldwin better be careful. They might send a Mexican cartel gang member to assassinate him.

From your mouth to.... ( you know the rest)

And of course, don’t give the escorts weapons. After all, “guns kill” you know.

Teflon.

Greasers slide right off! (Not to be confused by my family who emigrated from Italy around 1900, who were known for decades as Grease-balls)

"I wonder what an "anti-climbing" section might look like?"

So far, they are using a 4 to 6 foot flat plate at the top, which affords no handhold. This year's appropriation limits construction to previously used designs. Next year they might start putting the barrel tops on them, which are even harder to climb, and also defeat grappling hooks.

What is going in now are 18 to 30 foot steel bollards, with the flat plate at the top. 18 foot deters all but teams of fit young men, 30 foot deters all but virtual commandos or circus acrobats.

These new bollard barriers are much heavier material - they will persist for decades without maintenance.

Here is a picture of the current 18 foot design:

“8 to 30 foot steel bollards, with the flat plate at the top”

I liked the design where the top was wider than the wall, and rounded.

If we give him good midterm results, watch him go!
===============

Well, that's the question isin't it. While I'll go out and vote, I'm not nearly as fired up as I was. Lot's of promises were made, and few delivered.

And no, you can't blame it all on swamp republicans.

“Why does Mexico suck so much?”

The real answer is socialism.

Most Americans don’t realize how radically socialist Mexico was during the 20th century. Trotsky fled to Mexico from the Soviet Union, because it was viewed as the next greatest socialist experiment. Benito Mussolini was named after Benito Juarez by his communist father for the same reason. The Mexican radicals actually waged a war against Christianity, the Cristero War.

The Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI) ran Mexico as an effectively one party state for 75 years. The current President is back from that party, and in this year’s election, it is looking like an even further left extremist (Obrador, or AMLO as he is called) could win. A lot of power is concentrated into the office of the Presidency there.
