I’ve given up demanding proof of life.

Anyone have the “He’s dead, Jim!” meme lying around?

Is McJuan funding pols in the house?

Now that he is not voting in the Senate, what other possible power does he wield?

Aren’t there attendance requirements in Congress? There should be. If you can’t be there for 3 months, you are out. Period.

I don't know what the rules are regarding this.

As far as I know, no one in the media has actually met with him, or interviewed him in quite some time. Despite this, we keep getting reports about McCain's views on a number of issues: He doesn't want President Trump at his funeral, he opposed Gina Haspel's nomination for CIA Director, he wants to name his own successor, and he supports a pro-dreamer bill. If the media wanted to interview him, at the very least it could be done via Skype or an audio conference call, but that hasn't happened. I wonder who is really putting these things out there under the pretense of it coming from John McCain?

If McCain’s staff is making these statements for him, they must be some real hardcore leftists.

Did McCain actually utter this, or did his chief of staff utter it?

Step on up and ask him yourself.

Years down the road we'll discover that he died long ago and they hid it.

Hillary has a body double to wave from the distance but no one would take the job in Variety when they advertised for a McCain double.

Staff members just take little index cards with his thoughts written on them and read them in the hall to reporters. Like Woodrow Wilson’s wife did.

I thought I just heard that Meghan has flown home to be there in his last throes of cancer.

Pardon me, but if he is that bad I really doubt he said this.

That said, the old fart would agree with it.

Did McCain actually utter this, or did his chief of staff utter it? For the last six months, I think the staff has basically run everything.

Even recorded videos of McCain would be suspect at this point (a~la Osama bin Laden).

“. . .he supports an effort in the House of Representatives to force a vote on an immigration bill.”

McCain is a member of the Senate. He does not have a vote in the House so his opinion about the business of the House is irrelevant. In fact, he must be present for his Senate vote to count. As long as he stays at his home in Arizona his vote in the Senate is meaningless. In reality, a politician confined to his deathbed has no power.

"...the Arizona Republican wrote apparently wrote in a tweet."

The press wants to uncritically regurgitate anything ascribed to Sen. McCain without considering the circumstances.

Perhaps the best prior example comes from the same location - Arizona. When former Sen. Goldwater was terminally ill, his much younger 2nd wife would hold press conferences and tell the assembled reporters what Barry though about this or that. Surprising announcement, like his change on position on abortion, were announced this way. No visible Barry, just his wife telling thew world what he thought and the press dutifully reporting it as "Sen. Goldwater has change of hear..." I recall several startling changes in position, all announced by the wife, while Barry was on his deathbed and and not appearing on camera or speaking to any of the media. Was it Barry Goldwater changing his mind on some issue, or was it his wife taking advantage of his incapacity to announce he had changed his mind about x?

With McCain, the press is simply using him to further attack Trump. They are exploiting a dying man to further their political and ideological agendas. In the recent kerfuffle regarding the remarks of an administration staffer, she was merely indicating that he was dying and could not be expected to travel to Washington to actually cast a vote "so it didn't matter anyway" in terms of votes for or against the CIA Director nominee. Was that true assessment more exploitative of Sen. McCain, or are the headlines during the first week in May, stating "McCain Voting Against CIA Nominee", actually more exploitative (when in fact the press knew full well he was not traveling to DC to cast a vote?)

I’m quite sure, when Trump is forced by propriety to say, “We have lost a great senator today” (and may that day be soon...), he will have his fingers crossed behind his back. I wouldn’t blame him! This dirtbag would try to screw Trump over from his moldering grave. That will be a new Halloween costume idea...McCain as a zombie.

yes...it’s obvious he is not able to speak...his “staff” is doing the writing, talking....this is an abomination...the Senate should censure him, as someone else here said. It’s a ruse and a lie to keep having him “write” or “speak”
