” I disagree that Hoever’s practice of Christianity was substantially burdened by not having an English Bible while in custody.”

He had a filed for multiple infractions each time he got disciplined and/or sent to solitary. I really doubt that he was into daily readings of the bible. He was too busy filing petitions. If fact his main complaint this time was not the bible but not having access to his mail so he could pursue his many legal petitions!

“Given that you are siding with the anti-Christian groups, NCJW and Muslim Advocates, I would say...”

Given that I am siding with the Rutherford Institute - and others - saying a prisoner should be allowed free exercise of his religion provided it does not conflict with some NEED in his punishment, and YOU are arguing government can restrict religious activity to the absolute bare minimum just because it physically CAN....

Yeah. You are pushing a Big Government, Anti-religious agenda!

I would have thought that by now, you would get the big picture. NO Christian groups have joined. Only non-Christian pro-muslim groups. This is not about the bible.

Others ... progressive (code-word), anti-Christian, pro-abortion, LGBTQ groups ...

Another issue that Whitehead (RI founder) expounds upon is the unconstitutionality of the owners forcing the players to NOT kneel for the National Anthem.

“Regardless, I dispute that he can lawfully be denied a Bible.”

The First Amendment ends at the prison door.

As a prisoner, he cannot cite the First Amendment to hold a press conference or to start a newspaper or internet blog.

furthermore, while in prison, he cannot claim his Second Amendment right to have a firearm.

“Christians don’t become Christians without the Word.”

One does not need a Bible to be a Christian.

Yep. And anti-death penalty and people on death-watch should be housed in the general population!

Now get the picture! This is all about more rights for the prisoners .... supported by pro-muslim anti-punishment groups.

“Christians are not immune to sinning, but there are some Christians who seem to think that other’s sins are more egregious than THEIR OWN pet sins or that THEIR OWN pet sins aren’t real sins, much as you seem to imply is your belief.”

All of us have sinned, but not all of us have sinned by raping a child.

So yes, his sins are more egregious than my sins.

“NO Christian groups have joined.”

The Rutherford Foundation IS a Christian group. Not Muslim. But you cannot have religious freedom for Christians unless you also give it to Muslims and Jews.

What a concept!

“one doesn’t lose the right to worship God or to turn to Him due to criminal conviction.”

Is it possible to worship without a Bible?

“Have YOU read YOUR Bible? It doesn’t imply what you suggest in any shape form or fashion. Shame on you.”

Yes.

However, I also read articles that describe how Conraad Hoever raped children.

And for this one, I will side with the prison warden over the child molester.

“The Rutherford Foundation IS a Christian group. Not Muslim. But you cannot have religious freedom for Christians unless you also give it to Muslims and Jews.”

EXACTLY. That is why anti-Christian groups are joining together in the brief and Christian groups are not joining in!

“However, I also read articles that describe how Conraad Hoever raped children.”

Dear Conraad is a full-time petitioner. Only in solitary would he have time to read the bible!

Actually, the bible was just a small part of his original petition.

Everytime he gets disciplined he files petitions. Four have made it to court. One other time in solitary he hurt his knee and although their was no need for medical treatment he filed a petition that made it to court claiming abuse and lack of access to medical treatment.

““The Rutherford Foundation IS a Christian group.”

Then why is it affiliating only with non-Christian groups in this brief?

Also they are anti-Christian RIGHT saying there is no place for religion in politics.

Whitehead says the Christian RIGHT has sold out to politics and power and instead should focus on helping the poor.

I see.

I also note that you did not provide a Biblical defense of your position. SO let’s again think about what you said, and now doubled down on. In case you need to be reminded, you just said ‘he is a worse sinner than I am’.

What is the penalty for sin and how many sins are required before that penalty is incurred? That means any sin. Your sin, his sin, your neighbor’s sin, your pastor or priest’s sin, the Apostle Paul’s sin, anyone’s sin. (Hint: you’ll find it in the book of Romans in the sixth chapter. Among other places.)

Get back to me on that, being sure to explain to me from Scripture why, considering the penalty, you are a lesser sinner than he.

I’m sure you must have a sound Biblical defense.

Let not your desire be turned to your neighbor’s house, or his wife or his man-servant or his woman-servant or his ox or his ass or anything which is his.

Fir a start ...

Since you chimed in, your reply is a response to what question? (Since it does not seem to respond to the question asked in the post you replied to..)

To help you out, the post you replied to specifically asked the following question: “What is the penalty for sin and how many sins are required before that penalty is incurred?”

Conraad Hoever, held in Florida’s Franklin Correctional Institution, was placed in solitary confinement in 2013 for “disrespecting” a prison guard, and he asked to have a Bible with him.

Well, hell's bells - the guy is getting special punishment for being a dick-wad and it's turned into a religious debate because the Left know so many are primed to turn anything into a religious deal just as they turn everything into racial deals.

Maybe Y'All think he should have been given the Bible, had a reading lamp provided and maybe a special set of specs to make it easier to read - and since he felt "it was his calling to study the Bible while locked up for his crimes" maybe they should have provided a good looking theologian to help him understand what he was reading....

But one does have to turn to such as you to find out who, how and what makes a Christian?

News to me.
