Joining Facebook is near the top of my bucket list of things never to do.

I agree, but I’m afraid there are others who are just as unprincipled about information.

My father is 92 and still has a driver’s license, and is constantly called about selling his car and pickup. I’ve wasted many days trying to get the calls stopped. Even drove to a dealership 60 miles away and personally conveyed my anger with them. (We have never bought an auto from them) Even after the guy at the top was told, it was not an automatic end to it. And they don’t want anybody to know they do it. The guy at the top of that company looked me straight in the eye and said he did not buy the State of Texas data on that. (of course he bought it from someone who did)

Think about this, you register your car each year, they record the number of miles you drove from last years milage. They have your age and the details about the vehicle. So they sell the data to dealers prospecting for good clean used cars of old folks, who “don’t need it anyway”? If you are over 80, drove less than 1,000 miles last year, you are targeted.

My father seldom drives and when he does it is normally to the farm and back (4 miles). But I despise what the bureaucraps do with this.

I had dinner with old friends on Saturday night, and one of them was insistent on finding out why I hate Facebook so much and refuse to join it.

I guess my contempt for those who seem addicted to it is discernible to him and his wife.

Yahoo email accesses your email addresses including other email programs like my Thunderbird email. I have to block it every time it pops up to ask if they can. They already stole them and sell the addresses to spammers. They also read your email. Gmail does the same. All your browser history is stolen as well.

You just have to know someone who has a Facebook account and be linked in the ever expanding “Unmasking!”.
