Social justice busybodies obsessed with how other people live their lives often portray the success of their causes as a matter of destiny.
“The young people will win,” insists one youthful gun control advocate, falsely portraying his personal crusade as a generational mandate. Yet recent events have demonstrated that bedrock American values – including support for the Second Amendment – tend to outlast moments of high emotion that are increasingly relied upon by political opportunists to advance their agenda.
We recently commented on this point with reference to poll numbers that show a familiar pattern of gun control support spiking in the immediate aftermath of an infamous firearm-related crime, only to taper off as the punditry aims its fury in another direction or overplays its hand and is forced to regroup.
Since then, additional evidence has arisen to complicate the media’s breathless narrative that “the ground is shifting on gun control.”
First, more recent poll numbers underscore the fact that Americans, including young Americans, recognize that the country has far more pressing problems than rushing to enact unproven gun control measures.
The Associated Press and MTV, for example, teamed up this year to measure the “Youth Political Pulse,” with surveys conducted from late February to early March (when the news cycle was focused on the terrible crime at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School) and again from late April to early May. Between the survey periods, the percentage of respondents aged 15 to 34 who identified firearm-related issues as their highest concern for the country fell 15 points, from 21% to 6%. TRUTH....like CARS/TRUCKS kill more people than guns? Like buckets of water kill more kids than GUNS? I hope you are right. If not, I want the drivers license age to be raised to 35, and buckets to be banned!
Wanted to interject an experience I had this weekend. My large city hosts a gun show (a couple of them) almost every month, and last weekend was at the usual venue. A temporary gun show sign advertising the event was stuck in the ground with stakes at a busy intersection where I was waiting at the light. A Saturn was stopped by the sign, and a leftist womyn got out of the passenger side, grabbed the sign and pulled it out of the ground, throwing it down out of easy view of traffic.
I took a photo of the car. Followed the vehicle and pulled along side and held up my phone to show them the photo. The b***h shot me the bird, as is typical. I’m trying to reach the appropriate organizer/agent to see if they want to push for charges.
These leftist brats need to feel pushback whenever possible.
Brings up the question of why aren’t these whiners protesting at car shows?
And, auto dealerships, truck stops, freeway on/off ramps...

My 16 yr old was ambushed on his way home from school and BEATEN to death with a 2 ft section of Fence Post by a SOCIOPATH for the JOLLIES to see what it felt like to kill. After a rotten Plea Deal by a RINO A$$ AG, M1 WAS PLEAD DOWN TO M2, 20 YRS, Perp served 10.5 thanks to the Over Crowding crap. Would not have served that if I’d not fought those 6 parole hearings.

Or Cell phone places, how many have been killed txting, phoning, now watching TV on their cells while driving? What about the people that they kill or maim doing this. Why do they get a break from Blackmail and Extortion?

More accurately, this was criminal mischief in intentionally defacing a sign. But the attitude leading to it was definitely anti-2nd Amendment.
