Freezing cold in the winter (think slipping and breaking hip or arm, here), hotter than heck in the summer (and dry enough to add 10 years to your skin), and it's not unusual to see open carry of firearms. (Wanna see a really BIG mountain lion or rattlesnake? Idaho is your state.)
I suspect that most progressives would not be happy in Idaho (or any Mountain State), and would be more satisfied in less remote areas where they can lead more leisurely lifestyles and have more services and amenities available to them.
Moscow Idaho is the northern Berkeley.

The rich ones, though, might love a second home there for the bragging rights—and maybe the tax base?
