Homeowner Shoots & Kills 2 Burglars With His AK-47
Freedom Outpost | June 4, 2018 | Tim Brown

Posted on 06/04/2018 9:39:58 PM PDT by Cheerio

This is just one example of why AK-47s are needed by law-abiding citizens. Get that Senator Feinstein and the rest of you Communist gun confiscators posing as American representatives of the people?

A Memphis, Tennessee homeowner unleashed firepower from his AK-47 against two burglars who had broken into his home on Friday evening. Both burglars are now dead.

According to a local CBS affiliate, 28-year-old Azell Witherspoon and 17-year-old Demond Robinson were shot and killed after the homeowner, who asked not to be identified, and a friend arrived at his house to discover the two men rummaging through his house.

After returning home from the barber shop around 7pm, the homeowner said that he saw his door pried open and heard his dog barking.

"I see my house being ransacked and the dog was still going hysterical in the cage," the homeowner told WMC. He then went on to say that one of the two intruders noticed the homeowner and his friend and said, "Hey, they are here."

“He picked up his weapon, turned around and points them at me,” the homeowner told the Fox 13. “Two pistols.”

That's so unfair...

LOL

Good on you! I don't have a shotgun. Wish I did. I may seek one out at a later date.

In any close-quarter engagement, I consider a standard 12-gauge pump shotgun, in the hands of an experienced user, to be a far more formidable weapon over any AR or AK variant.

Nothing strikes terror into a potential adversary as does the unique sound of a 12-gauge pump shotgun racking a round.

I load my 870 sequentially with #4, OO, OOO buck, and a slug. So, the perp receives increasingly more destructive levels of firepower to his body, if he persists in the attack. I have the weapon set up with an extended magazine tube, a side saddle shell carrier, and a universal sling.

Feds say it has to be 26” overall length and the barrel has to be 181/4” long. And it matters where and how you measure barrel length. A home defense profile generally meets these requirements and has the extended magazine. They all make them and they come in varying price ranges. My old 500 20ga is sporting a new short barrel the original 28” one is in the reloading room for bird hunting. Mosseburg makes replacement barrels for 870 rem and 500’s. They’re around $100 or so each. Used guns are around an my 500 was bought in 1968. Don’t have to replace it very often.

I appreciate the mention of those requirements. While I didn’t know the exact measurement, that was very close to what I thought it would be.

When purchasing weapons, I make sure I’m in compliance with all the laws. I generally try to adhere to the law of the land, even if I think it stinks to high heavens.

Auto or pump the intruder will never hear the racking or bolt throw. First he will know where I am at is the flash and blast. He came in uninvited. That’s all she wrote.

There is a legal non-NFA short-barrel shotgun type now.

All the big makers are now making short shotguns in this class with ATF approval.

I prefer my armaments to be as unfair as possible for the party forcing me to use them upon them. Something that belches 9 to 11 .30-caliber-class pellets moving at 1300fps every time the trigger is pulled and can do that 12-30 times as fast as I can pull the trigger before I have to change the magazine? That’s right up my alley.

Of course, I’m biased. I spent a week on a roof with a rifle in Los Angeles back in 1992 and I decided what I wanted to have with me should that happen again. My concern is not the individual intruder but the intruder who brings ten plus of his friends - because I know damn well that can happen.

The ATF has also ruled that you are allowed to shoulder the “arm brace” on any weapon so equipped. So you basically get a short barrel shotgun in all but name.

All of the below are fully legal, non-NFA weapons with these and other recent ATF rulings:
Mossberg Shockwave: http://palmettostatearmory.com/mossberg-590-shockwave-12ga-shotgun-50659.html

Remington 870 TAC-14: https://www.remington.com/other-products/model-870-tac-14

And a TAC-14 with a detachable mag (which is becoming more common): https://www.sportsmansoutdoorsuperstore.com/products2.cfm/ID/201719/81348/remington-870-dm-tac-14-12-gauge-with-14-inch-barrel-and-detachable-magazine

Winchester is reportedly working on their own counterpart to these, based on their SXP Defender series.

Please note that these are only legal if you purchase them new. It is still illegal to convert a pre-existing shotgun to these configurations.

Just FYI, the short pistol grip only shotgun tends to be less than useful unless you practice *a lot* and even then...

Very nice. The one problem I would have, is the pistol grip in California. I don’t believe they allow them.

Now I may have that mixed up with other weapons, but I don’t believe they’d allow this here.

Other than that, that does look like a great little weapon for close in work.

None of these short shotguns are on the approved list for California purchase.

Suggest moving from California.

Wow another reason not to live in CA. The price isn’t as bad as I expected and the availability of the Remington is easy. Control with the grip has to be a issue until a lot of time is put in. Interesting though. Probably not a general ladies gun.

We can all agree (can’t we) that criminals’ lives would be much safer without that damn pesky ‘right to keep and bear arms’ .

“A Remington 870 12-gauge, loaded with OO or OOO buckshot, is the weapon of choice for home defense.”

I agree with the 12 ga, but it should be loaded with #2 or #4 shot.
OO buck is for shooting something 50 yards away, not in your house.
