Grants of immunity cannot be given unilaterally by a prosecutor. They have to be approved by the head of the DOJ Criminal Division as well as the AG/DAG.
Immunity comes with conditions and limitations that must be followed.
If a Special Counsel has the authority to grant immunity without agreement from his boss (POTUS), then that MUST be changed in the statute as it is extra-constitutional.
Also, under what authority is this “immunity” honored by the Judiciary? Upon what statute can an investigator rest in granting “summary” immunity in a court proceeding?
