Current and former players react to President Donald Trump calling off Eagles' White House visit
NBC Sports ^ | 06/05/2018

Posted on 06/05/2018 6:43:52 AM PDT by SeekAndFind

The reactions will only continue as the week goes on after President Donald Trump disinvited the Eagles to the White House a day before the Super Bowl champions were scheduled to visit (see story).

Politicians with local ties made their voices heard Monday night, while the president also sent out a tweet restating his stance behind the decision (see story).

Some current and former NFL players also chimed in on the news.

"I guess he was upset with the delegation we were sending," Eagles safety Rodney McLeod said of Trump's decision in a text message to NBC Sports Philadelphia's Derrick Gunn.

Former Eagle Torrey Smith, who played a key role in the team's Super Bowl run, tweeted:

There are a lot of people on the team that have plenty of different views. The men and women that wanted to go should’ve been able to go. It’s a cowardly act to cancel the celebration because the majority of the people don’t want to see you. To make it about the anthem is foolish— Torrey Smith (@TorreySmithWR) June 4, 2018

So many lies smh
Here are some facts
1. Not many people were going to go
2. No one refused to go simply because Trump “insists” folks stand for the anthem
3. The President continues to spread the false narrative that players are anti military pic.twitter.com/89GUNhJ4eE— Torrey Smith (@TorreySmithWR) June 4, 2018

“I guess he was upset with the delegation we were sending,” Eagles safety Rodney McLeod

And there is why he did it. Delegation? How about team. If you sent a team, you would be there. But you wanted to make a statement so Trump made one first.

A fool and is money are soon parted.

An invitation to the White House is an honor and an opportunity. But these intellectually challenged individuals chose to be cowards rather than take the opportunity to meet with the president. What is it they are protesting by not going? His election? His opinion that employees paid millions of dollars should respect the country which allows them to make millions of dollars playing a game?

How many business majors among the Philadelphia Chickens? How many college graduates? How many illegitimate children?

In the old days I could have rattled off 30 players and their athletic stats. Now I could maybe name two and their political views. They’ve lost me forever.

If the NFL can’t decide to respect our flag and national anthem, then it shouldn’t be a part of any celebration at the White House.

Until it does, I won’t be tuning in to one thing that involves the NFL other than it’s demise.

Who do they think we are, five or six year olds? So they stay in the locker room rather than respect our nation? That’s supposed to be a fix to the disrespect they’ve been showing?

When the NFL comes out to play this year, I’ll be in my locker room.

The NFL is dead to me.

I think the NFL is going to find an even worse season coming up. People I know that were rabid fans are simply tuning out and finding other things to do with their time.

Screw him, actions of some members affect the whole team. Instead, invite Brady and Belichick.

Glad this is upsetting a$$hole leftists, who, in my humble opinion, can go to hell and burn for all eternity.

I think Trump’s problem is that these people are basically asshole, yet they still make millions. Trump now sees it as his job to end that gravy train...and he’s doing a damn good job of it!

NBC, as always, doing its level best to make the administration look bad.

And then they wonder why no one’s listening anymore.

It’s long, long past time when the President, or any other public figure for that matter, wasted a nanosecond on these worthless a$$holes! As far as I am concerned, if they think America isn’t the place for them, they can move back to Africa, purchase a mud hut, and live out their lives in a loincloth with a spear!
To be sure, there is racial discrimination still in existence in this country, but these pr!cks are not the one’s being discriminated against. F*ck every last one of their miserable a$$es!
The other thing that is disgusting, is how “conservatives” who are “sports children” can’t bring themselves to “give up professional sports” even with the ample evidence that the players are just a bunch of $hit who are out there day after day, trying to undermine this country with their “racial” antics.

This is good. It will help roll the BLM/NFL over the cliff to a well deserved end even faster.

It’s OK for the Eagles to make a political statement by not going, but not Trump by disinviting the ingrates.

Trump is our CIC: Counterpuncher-in-Chief!

Wise move by Trump - probably figured some of them would use the visit as an opportunity to make a statement.
For leftists, nothing is off limits. Nothing.

President Trump flipped the NFL a giant middle finger when he made a point of attending the college football championship game in January.

Pederson praised the LORD after the team won. Wentz and Files are strong believers.I feel bad for them. Malcolm Jenkins is the ringleader, and a punk.

The NFL players seem to have not learned anything about marketing and good sportsmanship in college.

Or proper English
