BERLIN (AFP) - Leading German politicianson Tuesday called for the US ambassador to be expelled, after the staunch ally of Donald Trump was accused of meddling in domestic politics and aggravating already tense ties.
Richard Grenell had taken up his diplomatic posting in Berlin on May 8, and immediately irked Germany when he tweeted on the same day that German companies should stop doing business with Iran as Trump quit the nuclear deal with the Islamic Republic.

The ambassador’s mistake was saying out loud what his inclinations are. The “diplomatic” way is to use subterfuge.
Grennel is there because Trump wants him there. If Grennel says something Trump doesn’t like he can pull him.
Until then, Merkel can go spit.
But it’s ok if Obama’s ambassador interfered with Germany.......
At the least abandon the Visa requirement for Poland !
Bring our people home, all of them! I am sick and tired of Europeans constantly meddling in this country with constant unrelenting criticism of everything we do. They are NO friends of ours and it is long overdue that we acknowledge their animosity and act on it.

You’re correct to the extent that they are able to require whom it “will or should” be.
But they may always reject a proposed Ambassador, and they may always expel one whom they don’t like.

Now that's an angle I would never have considered. But it makes perfect sense.
Now we can understand the curious circumstances of 'bam's surrender of the assets during the embassy crises, and the way those assets were transferred. Or was it rumor, the reports of skids stacked with greenbacks flown to Iran?
I would think the original assets would have been investments of various sorts- stocks, bonds and the like. Liquidating such investments would have entailed extensive documentation had the Iranians done it after the transfer. Delivery in the form of fungible greenbacks was far more convenient for the Mullahs, and provided a once-in-a-lifetime business opportunity to anyone close enough to get in on it.
To some degree that transfer was a government-backed sale. I wonder how much the exchange of cash for long-term assets cost the Iranians? How much did it cost us? Who made the exchange? Who acquired possession of the original investments in the trade? I'm wondering who kerry and 'bam were working for when they arranged our humiliation-- the Iranians or the brokers?
This needs looking into.

Sure they may. And we may refuse to appoint another and therefore they may not be able to get any business done with us. We may also expel theirs if they expel ours.
