People who speak out as if a leader of Conservatism draw a following. They touch on important matters, and people come to depend on them for sage advice. Along comes a candidate and this person trashes them.
I can guarantee you that some of Levin’s followers did not vote for Trump based an his attacks on Trump for months on end. His attacks on Trump were vicious. Then he turned around and begrudgingly said he would vote for him. Some of his followers thought, well you may, but I won’t, not after what you pointed out to me for months on end. I can’t do that.
Sure Levin is right here, but by his antics in 2016, he helped to make that race closer than it should have been. So did Ted Cruz. So did Glenn Beck. So did many others in the GOPe. So did many of the supposed self-proclaimed “Conservative” talking heads.
It’s not a glib topic, the trashing Trump took at the hands of folks who professed to share the same values we did.
These folks wound up helping the likes of Hillary Clinton.
Don’t be shocked now when some of us would rather not watch them regain trust to sell us out the next time.
Trumps antics were every bit as noxious, if not more so. Further, based on his past record, there was no reason to believe he would govern as a conservative, and I've been completely astounded by his record since taking office.
