Trump declares primaries delivered ‘great night’ for GOP

With the prospect of a “blue wave” in the November elections, Republicans and Democrats appeared to have escaped embarrassment Wednesday after primaries across eight states.

President Donald Trump cast the night as a win for Republicans. “So much for the big Blue Wave, it may be a big Red Wave,” he tweeted Wednesday morning, hailing what he called “the Trump impact.”

While some California contests remained too close to call, Republicans avoided disaster in the race for governor by nominating business executive John Cox to the November ballot. Lt. Gov. Gavin Newson, a Democrat, easily captured the top spot in Tuesday’s unique top-two primary system while Cox finished second, putting to rest GOP fears that no Republican would qualify for the deeply Democratic state’s top office. … Neither party immediately appeared to suffer major setbacks. But Trump saw the night as a repudiation of “Fake News.”

“Many more Republican voters showed up yesterday than the Fake News thought possible,” Trump tweeted. “The political pundits just don’t get what is going on out there — or they do get it but refuse to report the facts! Remember, Dems are High Tax, High Crime, easy to beat!” …

Just to have Cox on the ballot probably scares the sh** out of the Dems. It wasn’t supposed to happen. The polls told us so.

As some have stated having Cox on the ballot will hopefully bring out more Republicans and crossover votes. Sanctuary Cities come to mind.

Yes let’s hope so.

Our worst fears, that two Democrats would be in the general election for governor, were averted.

It will be a tough campaign, but, at least the GOP gets to compete in the race.

When they went to this jungle primary, did the Democrats think they would normally have two Democrats winning in the first round and move on to the general election?

Who knows, maybe we won’t have Peter Pan and Tinkerbell as Governor and First Twinkie of Mexifornia.

Might get an adult. Or at least one that doesn’t use hair color.

Overall the GOP got outvoted again in California, but they didn’t do as bad as Trump did here in 2016...and we have Republican candiidate for Governor on the November ballot. So, yeah, I guess it wasn’t too bad a night

The polls I've seen had Cox in solid second place for some time. Hopes for a all Democrat governors race have been whishfull thinking for quite a while.

Newsom is another in the long line of pretty boys the Democrats use to gain the White House. No real accomplishments b4 becoming POTUS. Can we nip him in the bud? Banging someone else’s wife won’t hurt him. Immigration just might. So will the pretty boy charge and his REAL intentions after just 2 years in office. Who else do they have?

I don’t like moral victories.

Either Cox has a chance to win or he doesn’t.

The Left loves to brag about how important races are when they know for sure they are going to win.

I believe that in the whole election, we (Trump supporters) did very good. I have to go insane and visit DU to see what they are saying about California and the BlueWave...
