America is everyone’s largest customer. The customer, in the long run, has all the power. He can always chose not to buy. Trump just told them to open their markets or we stop buying.
Trump has the upper hand. We run massive trade deficits. We can and will easily weather a trade war as we will find that lots and lots of American companies will be happy to open local manufacturing facilities to supply the newly increased and wealthier work force with the junk we are presently importing from China, Canada, Mexico & the EU.
Do we do the same for their goods?
