While no-one has yet to see the actual Inspector General Mike Horowitz report outlining how the DOJ and FBI handled the Hillary Clinton email investigation, the media are beginning to shape the narrative
In a summary of Bill Priestap’s testimony, via The Hill, the narrative begins by focusing on James Comey: “Priestap “completely” backed up everything that Comey said, according to a source familiar with his testimony.” The narrative construct gains clarity with a report from ABC highlight James Comey as “insubordinate”:
(Via ABC) The Justice Department’s internal watchdog has concluded that James Comey defied authority at times during his tenure as FBI director, according to sources familiar with a draft report on the matter.
One source told ABC News that the draft report explicitly used the word “insubordinate” to describe Comey’s behavior. Another source agreed with that characterization but could not confirm the use of the term.
In the draft report, Inspector General Michael Horowitz also rebuked former Attorney General Loretta Lynch for her handling of the federal investigation into Hillary Clinton‘s personal email server, the sources said. (more)

This is the corollary to the corollary: "Exonerating with faint criticism."
This is a total set up. Why not just add 'extremely blatantly badly insubordinate' so that the non-prosecutable criticism looks stronger? No different from the Hillary email criticism-in-place-of-prosecution.
I see that sundunce is, all of a sudden, no longer claiming that priestap is a white hat testifying against all the obama clinton criminals. But then again, many of us said six months ago that there was absolutely no evidence that he was!
Its interesting how bradman repeatedly fails to mention that another of his fantastical theories falls apart.
IOW Comey is (supposed to be) the fall guy. Let’s see how willingly he accepts the role, and if he does, what is he going to get in return (other than Arkancide, of course).
NOT throwing Comey under the bus. It’s the same play as calling Hillary very careless: the equivalent of saying she did wrong but shouldn’t be charged. I.e.: outside the military insubordination is a firing offense at best. Comey was fired, so case closed.
Get ready for the thud. I’m glad I wasn’t expecting much. If Trump was waiting for the IG report to go on the offense it ain’t going to help. If wants justice he needs to release everything now IMHO.
Exactly to what or to whom was Comey insubordinate? The FBI director operates almost independently and maybe reports to the AG in some situations. But insubordination means he was supposedly ignoring some higher authority’s instructions.

This is nothing. And why is it being leaked. The original report should have gone straight to the congressional committees and the president.
Who cares what the report says about him?
The fact that Comey isn’t sitting in a cell is all that matters.
So the narrative is that Comey was a rogue agent and the Obama’s and Clinton’s knew nothing of what he was doing. I get it now. Someone needs to be thrown in jail and it should start from the top.
