White House slams Philadelphia mayor for ‘disgusting’ victory dance over sanctuary city ruling

The White House on Thursday slammed the mayor of Philadelphia’s “disgusting” celebratory dance after a court ruled in favor of the city in a fight with the Trump administration on its sanctuary city status. U.S. District Judge Michael Baylson ruled Wednesday that the Trump administration cannot cut off grants to the city over policies limiting cooperation with federal immigration authorities. Baylson said the conditions the administration placed on the city were unconstitutional, “arbitrary and capricious.”

Video tweeted by Philadelphia Mayor James Kenney’s deputy chief of staff showed him dancing with chief of staff Jane Slusser.

“Sanctuary city, yeh!” a giddy Kenney sings before high-fiving Slusser.

I’ve been wondering why Federal Marshals are not going to the City Halls and arresting mayors and city council members on, at minimum, conspiracy to violate immigration law.

Just arrest on federal charges. Then he can dance away.

Any chance this ruling is overturned by a higher court?

Well, their boss, the Attorney General of the United States, has not so instructed them.

Let him dance.

His legacy voters - white working class democrats - are wondering what the guy’s gig is now.

They now see they were defrauded - the Rats don’t care about them. Threw them off the bus in favor of a new class of victims.

That’s how Trump won. They have a new leader...and it ain’t a guy with a D next to his name.

Trump would have excellent reason to tell the whole left “You didn’t leave us any more choices.”

Appeal it if possible. Philly cheese has gotten rotten.

There is no way cities like Philadelphia can carry the cost of their progressive - left schemes, including sanctuary city laws.

The great irony is that despite what Trump says, the State and Fed.gov will continue to fund these destructive prog schemes.

Rizzo wouldn't have done that.

Say what you will about him, but Nutter wouldn't have done it.

Wilson Goode might have done it, but he'd blow up the cameras and any spectators.

Ed Rendell, though - he would have done it.

The city has said it will turn over illegal immigrants to Immigration and Customs Enforcement only if the agency has a warrant signed by a judge.

And let me guess... at the same time the dear Dems are doing all they can to prevent the staffing of appropriate courts?

How do the people of Philly put up with it? At some point don't the costs exceed the benefits? I mean yeah, the orphan, the widow, the piteous cases who will be utterly sympathetic and oh if only they could get their green card...? What is that, 5% if that much? How about the rest....

How come the liberals get to have both ways?

How come schools and colleges have Federal funding cut off if they don't kowtow to "diversity" and wymyn and "transgenders" and homos?

But cities can flout Federal immigration policy and still collect their coin?

The solution is to end all Federal payments to all cities. Let the cities pay their own way. What could be more local than a city, no need for the Feds.

This ruling is almost certain to be overturned by a higher court, the SC if it needs to go that far.

The only way it shouldn’t be is if there’s no empowering statute. That ought to be a fixed part of the deal. We don’t want presidents editing the laws.
