Anyhow, we should take a moment to understand that Christian liberality isn’t secular liberalism, and a movement of secular conservatism (even Christianesque) that manages to catch the former up in opposition to the latter will be counterproductive and ineffective.
We should also take a moment to understand that secular liberalism is filling a vacuum where Christian liberality used to be.
We should take yet another moment to understand that God permits vacuums to be poorly filled rather than to be completely empty. Because as bad as what is there is, there could be even worse things. Secular liberalism falls apart slowly. There are some things that do worse than that, and some of them look a lot like secular conservatism. We may want to say fooey on our erring neighbors, and yet we can’t cause there to be any different neighbors. They remain there.
