House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi (Calif.) said Thursday that "Medicare for All" proposals should be “evaluated” if Democrats win back the House this year, adding “it’s all on the table."
Pelosi has long backed a public option for health insurance, but has not supported going further — as many Democrats want — and setting up government-run, universal health insurance.
The Democratic leader did not explicitly endorse the idea of Medicare for All during a press conference Wednesday, but she also did not rule out the proposal.
“I've always been for a public option so I'm always eager to talk about that," Pelosi said when asked if Democrats would advance a public option or Medicare for All legislation if they win the House.
“Some of the other issues that have been proposed have to be evaluated in terms of the access that they give, the affordability of it and how we would pay for it, but again it's all on the table,” she added.
Last year, Pelosi pushed back on the idea of Medicare for All, saying, “the comfort level with a broader base of the American people is not there yet.”
Medicare for All has been gaining traction among Democrats in recent years. The idea, championed by Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), is now favored by many potential 2020 Democratic presidential contenders.
Many Democratic House candidates in battleground districts support the idea as well, which Republicans think will be a liability for them.
“When they come to Congress, any of those subjects can be on the table,” Pelosi said.
She defended the current Affordable Care Act as well.
“We believe in the Affordable Care Act, that it has the structure to take us forward in many different ways,” she said.

I always resented paying toward people who were lazy (to me) since I was about 16 and working at part time jobs. I was one of the millions who worked every day for decades and supported all the Social Security and Medicare recipients and I knew as I was finally able to retire last year (I’m 72) that they would say “Sorry, we’re broke.” when it came to benefits for ME.
I fully realize the corrupt government since LBJ spent all the Soc. Security money each year (borrowed) and then asked to pay it back by new taxes the next year, so no money was “saved” or “invested” to pay us back in 2018. I know.
I was shocked how much we pay now for benefits during retirement and how wimpy and cheap the medical payments are while we the retirees again have to pay huge annual deductibles and copays and a monthly tax!!
We the senior boomers are still strong enough to fight by any means necessary if the talk comes around to Dems saying how many old folks can we (the government) afford, how much do old people cost,do we need to keep end of life care going if it costs money that could go to minorities on welfare, and so on.
WE WILL FIGHT. Boomers will not roll over and get jobbed.
Does that mean I can stop paying $134 a month for my Medicare payment, which is deducted automatically each month from my retirement check? Or does that mean my costs will go up and my services go down to subsidize other people who don’t pay?
The only way Medicare and Medicaid have survived this far is by underpaying health care providers who then cost shift to their other patients - robbing Peter to pay Paul. That fails completely when Peter has to rob Paul too.

When the govt. stole and spent the money and I have to repay, it is still the social contract for all Americans to pay and then to be paid (bridges, freeways, water system) even if nots specifically exactly my home and street where it was spent.

You know, there have always been those that have sought irreparably harm America. For the life of me, though, I can not remember a time when they were so open about it, highly placed and legion in their efforts.

Why the dems don't just change the name of their party to the Socialist Party to reflect the truth I just don't know, it's not like their members would actually leave or be surprised.
