I can’t believe that the liberal State of Washington is so far behind on this. Liberal New York State prisons have been providing sandwiches during Ramadan for many years. I retired in 2003, and it had already been going on for quite a while by then. The muzzles would finish their fasting when the sun went down, and march as a group to the mess hall where they would break their fast with a full meal, then grab a paper bag with a sandwich, milk and fruit, and head back to their units. This went on every night until Ramadan finished.

"Are Jewish prisoners also permitted their dietary requirements? "
They are in NY State prisons. They have to request a Kosher diet and one will be provided at all meals for them. Of course there's more muzzles than Jews in the prison system.

Judge orders Washington prison to provide Ramadan meals Perhaps the inmates that are going to be forced to work an extra shift won't be quite as willing to ensure the ragheads receive pork-free meals.

Thanks, was thinking this is not a big deal if other religious dietary needs are being respected.

...if Islam was a religion. Which it is not. It’s an ideology rooted in oppression. Next up, MS 13 gets their diets met?!

Judges don't make law or define policy. Let 'em try an enforce the decree from on high.

FWIW, I know a few muslims who would be considered fairly devout in the non-militaristic observation of their faith.
One of my granddaughter’s best friends, and although we rarely eat pork and shellfish and such, we were sure not to serve same when she came to visit.
Otherwise, I’m not looking to cause any trouble here with my POV.

serve the meal at lunch time and if it is not eaten that hour serve it again the next day.
