Time for Europe to fill US vacuum, says ex-Danish PM [Helle Thorning-Schmidt]
EU Observer ^ | 06/11/2018 16:43 | Eric Maurice

“Keep calm and carry on.” In the wake of a disastrous G7 summit where US president Donald Trump all but broke off the Western alliance, the EU should stay cool and prepare to take over global leadership.

That is the message on Monday (11 June) by a former member of the EU leaders club, Helle Thorning-Schmidt.

“The US is leaving a vacuum. And who should step in? For me, it is completely obvious, it is Europe’s time to step in,” the former Danish prime minister said at an event in Brussels. “That’s where our new next opportunity is,” she said, describing Trump’s course as a “most massive wake-up call.”

Thorning-Schmidt, who was presenting a report on “What Europe can do to regain initiative”, insisted that the EU should have a “bigger engagement in the Middle East”, and recommit to the Paris climate agreement and the Iran nuclear deal.

She also argued that the EU should take “the leadership — that we would get from nowhere else — in regulating the information society.” …

per article:
She also argued that the EU should take “the leadership … in regulating the information society.”

That is the most disgusting part. The first thing that crosses a Euroweenie's mind is regulation, censorship, and control.

The people who designed the Internet were of a libertarian bent and regulation was not even envisioned. The Internet was designed as peer-to-peer network of equals. It was never intended to be a vehicle for cable TV, which was already in existence. The purpose of the Internet as an open vehicle for the free exchange of information and ideas has been completely subverted.

There has been talking and planning for an Internet 2 which would get things right and prevent the vandalism that has slowly destroyed the freedom and openness of the original.

The only vacuum is between the ears of the EU leaders -- the G7 isn't, as the media shill tries to claim, "the Western Alliance". And what's the recommendation from the EU's cipher? More of the same tired old discredited foreign policy. That merely illustrates for people who have limited reading skills that the EU didn't want to discuss economic matters at the economic conference, but rather wanted the US to acquiesce to EU political nonsense. There's no linkage. Thanks Olog-hai.

It's called "toughlove". It'll make men out of them.

Well, provided they don't kill each other first, anyway.

Take notes, children. Europe is going to give us a working demonstration of social Darwinism in action.

It also takes a SPINE to have a credible military threat in addition to money.

The Yurps lack both.

Exactly. There all for the use of force....when they approve and its in their interests and when America pays for it and when its American troops taking all the risks. Otherwise they think the use of force is terrible.....especially if its in America’s interest instead of their’s.

Remember how they all thought going into Kosovo without UN approval was just fine and dandy in 1999 - because they deemed it in their interest. Remember those same Yurps claiming it was “illegal” in 2003 when Bush ordered US troops into Iraq without UN approval. Oh you see NOW that the Yurps didn’t approve of it....now that it was not in THEIR interest because they were about to have Saddam’s blood money which they had been pocketing cut off, well NOW its “illegal” you see.....

They are completely worthless and are no allies of ours. The current EU president Jean Claude Juncker claimed “now is not the time of America, now is the time of Europe” in the mid 90s when war broke out in former Yugoslavia. Years of slaughter after European inactivity later, America had to step in and clean up that mess too.

Hey Sugar britches, you're no "Maggie Thatcher"

It's too late for Europe who has aborted itself into the dustbins of history and has the false hopes that the Islamist will wipe your tired white asses in the "new retirement homes"(re: Concentration camps redux)

As an descendant of Scottish immigrants I say to the old homeland, Go F$ck yourself. The tap is cut off and it's time to pay your own bill. America is tired of it's deadbeat cousins and will no longer drag your worthless hide into the future. The future is NOW!

Gawd damned Eroweenies!

Denmark will fill roughly the void left by the state of Delaware. The Russians are absolutely shaking in their shoes.

“If we don’t find solutions we will be irrelevant,” said Thorning-Schmidt, who took part in more than 30 EU summits when she was prime minister between 2011 and 2015.
So after 4 years and 30 EU summits she is now telling others to find solutions she could not.

I am no fan of Western Europe or the EU. In fact, I despise them immensely.

But that doesn’t change the fact that our slaughter of the Serbian people was incredibly stupid and morally wrong. We fought on the wrong side.

We slaughtered the Christian Serbs to protect muslim terrorist groups such as the KLA and the militant Bosnian muslims who were backed by Osama Bin Laden.

Okay by me. When Europe starts another war I hope POTUS says we’ll sit this one out.

Yep. Haven’t the Europeans been at each other’s throats for a couple thousand years? Why was Hadrian’s Wall there in the first place? I don’t know who are our worst enemies, Europeans or Russians.
