SINGAPORE (AP) -- President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un have signed a joint document in which they commit to working "toward complete denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula."
The document signed by the leaders at their historic summit Tuesday also says they will join efforts "to build a lasting and stable peace regime" on the Korean Peninsula.

Since there won't be a free, unified Korean peninsula in our lifetime then I'd say that's a moot point.
For what? Let's be honest and admit that nothing has been accomplished yet other than one meeting and a photo op. Let North Korea actually begin to follow through on their commitment and then award the medals.
This is a historic event even they will not be able to ignore. My hope is that this will have positive long term effects across the globe.
Only Leftists put much stock in ‘awards’ these days. They give them out like Little League participation trophies — but only to each other. Not saying that it’s totally impossible that Trump doesn’t split the award with Kim, and possibly Xi.
You're right about that. This is just the first step. Establish some kind of initial level of rapport and build on that. It may take awhile, but if Kim is serious about this, he'll end up gaining yardage on various fronts.
And none of us should really spend any time with the Nobel thing. They essentially delegitimized the thing when they gave it to Obama for no other reason that to suck up to their leftist messiah.

For sure. It will take time for NOKO to evolve. Actually, it would be wise if the economy could transition at a measured pace. There are lots of highly educated engineers, physicists, technicians, etc, that need to be absorbed within their economy as it shifts to an open market system. Otherwise, these people will leave for other countries interested in starting a nuclear program and the dance will start over again...
