I quit using TurboTax four years ago when they jacked up their software pricing scheme (practically doubling the cost in one single year). They’ve made a number of bad decisions, and this gun purchases problem (if true) just demonstrates an ongoing problem.

I have been using TaxAct for several years (on a FReeper recommendation), and I am very happy with their product.

Cheaper than TurboTax.

They also had a personal information hack a few years ago. I quit using them when a co-worker's account there had been hacked. He tried to file his income tax as per usual, only to be told that he'd already done so and had already been issued a refund.
