We Finally Know Why Rand Paul's Neighbor Attacked Him

UPDATE: Sen. Rand Paul's (R-KY) office has provided Townhall the following statement regarding last year's attack.

"Before Senator Paul was violently attacked from behind, he had no conversations or discussions with the attacker. There was no 'longstanding dispute.' This description is untrue. It is impossible to have a dispute when no words of disagreement were ever spoken - neither immediately nor at any other time before the attack occurred. In the decade prior to the attack, Senator Paul had no contact with the attacker.

The attack was a pre-meditated assault that broke six of the Senator’s ribs and was complicated by fluid and blood around the lung and recurrent pneumonia. Any description of this attack that implies a “yard dispute” justifies such violence and misses the point."

ORIGINAL POST

Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) was left with six broken ribs, including three displaced fractures, and months of intense pain that felt like 1,000 knives after his neighbor attacked him last year. The assailant, Dr. Rene Boucher, attacked Paul while he was mowing his lawn. The senator had just stepped off the lawn mower and was wearing silencing earmuffs and never saw or heard his neighbor coming.

Contrary to original rumors, Boucher's attack on the senator was not about politics. He was upset about yard debris, according to new court documents. From the Associated Press :

It said the disagreement over yard debris dates back to September 2017, when Paul piled a 10-foot-wide (3-meter-wide) stack of limbs onto a spot near Boucher’s property. The pile sat until October, when Boucher picked it up and hauled it away in portable dumpsters.

“Even though this debris was not on Dr. Boucher’s property, he viewed it as unsightly — as it was placed directly in his line of sight from his patio and the back door of his house,” the court record said.

Two more piles of debris appeared in the same month, and Boucher burned the pile on Nov. 2. Boucher used gasoline and suffered second-degree burns that he needed treatment for, the memorandum said.

The next day, Paul used his lawnmower to blow leaves onto Boucher’s yard and then made another branch pile in the same spot, it said.

“As Dr. Boucher has stated throughout, he lost his temper and tackled Rand Paul as Paul was carrying branches from another location on his property and placing them on the property line,” the memorandum said.

Boucher, formally requested to be placed on probation in court on Friday. Special Prosecutor Bradley Shepard had his own request: a 21-month prison sentence. Sentencing is this Friday.

I’m having a inability of mentally visualizing a Senator cutting his own grass. Of course Rand is not the same ilk of politician I am used to seeing either.

So why not just plant some shrubs, or put up a nice neighborly fence, or better yet ... build a wall!

Pansy a$$ way of handling it. You got beef with a guy, you go TALK to the guy and settle the beef. Geez... Folks around here know that about me. If I have something to say, something will be said, to your face, not behind your back, not on the phone or online either. Face to face.

Worse - as the two stories don’t line up.

Had Rand just stepped off the mower (with ear protection on), or was he actively carrying limbs and branches as the attacker claims?

Seriously - if there were never any “words” - yet this neighbor was angry about a pile of limbs? A pile of limbs that were not even on his property? And he took it on himself to haul off the first pile, then to use gasoline to burn a supposed 2nd pile (causing 2nd degree burns to himself in the process? You mean he started a fire on property that wasn’t’ even his own? The attacker’s story just doesn’t make much sense... He never complained? He never pursued possible neighborhood/property owner’s regulations? He didn’t say a word - just suddenly snapped and attacked the Senator?

The story doesn’t make any sense at all - dude needs to be locked up.

“Even though this debris was not on Dr. Boucher’s property, he viewed it as unsightly..."

Typical liberal philosophy: "What's mine is mine, and what's yours is mine."

There is a fallacy in your query.

You postulate Schumer and Pelosi doing yard work.

Neither does any work at all, ever

Rand Paul...55 years

January 7, 1963

Depending on state law...striking a senior citizen results in an enhanced indictment, additional $5k fine and up to 5 years in the slammer.

I live next door to a house in disrepair i.e a dump. I put up a fence and have trees and bushes that block the view.

That's all you need to do.
