Gay Americans are arming themselves to stay alive
NY Post ^ | June 12, 2018 | 1:31pm | By Benedict Brook

“I don’t want to get beaten to death, stabbed and burnt alive,” a slight woman with long blond hair and a checked shirt says. “I want a gun to feel equal.”

She is a member of one of the United States’ fastest-growing gun clubs, the jauntily named Pink Pistols.

Two years after the massacre at Orlando’s Pulse nightclub, gay, lesbian and transgender Americans are nervous. According to the Human Rights Center (HRC), a US LGBTI advocacy group, 52 gay people were murdered in the US last year because of their sexuality, and 28 transgender people met the same fate.

In increasing numbers, they are fighting back by taking up arms.

It’s brought them into lock step with pro-gun groups that haven’t, historically, been all that welcoming of gay people.

Australian journalist Patrick Abboud traveled to the US to meet some of the new gun-toting gay people, for a report to be broadcast on Australian news show “The Feed” on Tuesday.

It was a sobering experience, he told News.com.au.

“There is one murder per week of a gay person purely because they’re gay, and that’s really horrifying. The level of homophobia and transphobia in the USA is out of control and some people told me a gun is the difference between living and dying.”

The Pink Pistols have been nicknamed the “gay NRA,” a reference to the controversial National Rifle Association that is a staunch proponent of pro-gun laws.

“I would never have thought I’d see the LGBTI community siding with incredibly conservative, right-wing, pro-gun advocates that have been publicly homophobic and transphobic — that didn’t make any sense,” Abboud explained.

But after meeting some of the gun club’s members, Abboud said, there was a real fear that had only been stoked by the country’s rabid political landscape.

As far as I’m concerned, the more in our camp supporting our constitutional right to keep and bear arms, the better.

I want law-abiding blacks to be armed if they want to be. The same for gays and all other “oppressed” groups of American citizens who live in fear. I want everyone armed, since we know the thugs and criminals will be armed no matter what the law says.

It was Muslims who killed gays at Pulse. It was not guns. It was not the NRA.

At the gun range I belong to, we have all types, and we welcome them all (as long as they clean up after themselves)

Seen around Orlando after the Pulse shooting:

They have a right to defend themselves, too.

A lie. It doesn’t happen.

FTA: "Two years after the massacre at Orlando’s Pulse nightclub, gay, lesbian and transgender Americans are nervous."
They damn well should be. Their lib sympathizers don't have the balls or the intellectual honesty to place the blame where it really belongs. On a deranged radicalized muslim (that's a redundancy, isn't it?) convinced that allah ordered him to take out as many homosexuals as possible, even it it cost him his own life. This level of denial is more pathetic, not to mention dangerous than the time MAry Jo Buttafuco was all over the media denying Joey cheated on her. At least MaryJo eventually wised up and divorced the SOB.

From the headline, I thought they might start using condoms to save themselves from AIDS.

Fake, inflated numbers.

A fag with a gun is still a fag.

Their claim is about people who were murdered solely because of their sexual orientation or identity, not about the total number of homosexuals murdered in the US, which is bound to be larger.

I don't know if the 52 or 28 numbers are correct or not, but it may be worth noting that most of those murders happened in high crime areas or among populations with high crime rates.

Where people are already more likely to be killed, violence against gays for being gay doesn't stand out as much as it does in other parts of the country.

The mentally ill really isn’t the first group of people I’d encourage to pick up firearms as a hobby. Half of these people will use them to off themselves.

Probably almost every last one is an Islamic sharia-in-action case.

Does that include girls who are with other girls because a guy thinks it’s hot?

“Imagine if I said I needed to carry a gun because I feel scared because I’m a white male Republican.”

That’s exactly the reason I carry.

And I would bet many “gay bashing” incidents are really just crimes that occur because of high-risk lifestyle activities. It’s much easier to claim “I was just walking down the street when I was jumped by a gang of white frat boys calling me ‘faggot,’” then it is to admit “I was drugged and drunk out of my mind, and going to have sex with a random stranger, when he beat me up and stole my wallet.”
