I grew up amongst dairy farmers in Chino, California and corn/bean/hog/cattle farmers in Slater, Iowa. I worked on farms. Many of our forefathers left farms in Europe and elsewhere to come here and start over out of desire or necessity.

Depending on the time period and individual condition, necessity was true for most of our forebears.
Part of my family came because they were FORCED to because they lost a battle against the Crown, others escaped crushing poverty and a slow death by disease and corruption.
