I did a senior research paper on J. Edgar Hoover years ago and believe him to be one of the great Americans in history. All the garbage the media came out with after his death is just that - garbage. He professionalized law enforcement and was the nation’s strongest anti-communist fighter during the Cold War. Do not taint his name. Read his book, “Masters of Deceit.”
While I do not have as sanguine a view of him, I agree that he has been gratuitously and deceptively maligned - just like McCarthy.
