Me thinks the goal is writing this report was to save the FBI from dissolution - not to get to the truth. How could those texts not have indicated bias in their work at the FBI?
The IG doesn’t make indictments. That’s what the deputy attorney general is for.
All this was - a beginning of getting ONE SIDE of the story out.
By the way, this report was redacted, and it’s Rosenstein’s version of the IG report. It isn’t the original, and it doesn’t include the IG’s notes, which will likely remain classified.
As it was, its damning. It refers five over for investigation, which means, “Hey, were I a deputy attorney general, I’d start investigating THESE FIVE.”
From here, the information will begin to flow.
