None at all. Just years of observations. John McCain is an oligarch. And he doesn’t want the people choosing his successor. He wants his successor appointed. And he wants to choose who his successor is.
Suddenly somebody rises up, announces his candidacy at the very last minute, and very loudly says that if he is nominated for Governor, he (Bennett) WILL NOT appoint Cindy McCain should John McCain die or retire.
I know how these oligarchs work. Their plans are not to be thwarted. When Ducey is safely renominated, John McCain can resign with his preferred successor in the bag to succeed him.
You see, I’ve been watching the McCain types for a long time. They will work tooth and nail to prevent ANY conservative from being elected. John McCain stays in office mostly out of spite, to prevent a conservative from taking over his seat. And now he’s dying, so other plans had to be made. They had to get past May 31st. Now they have to get Ducey past his primary, similar to how in 2014 they were going to vote for the Amnesty bill after the primaries. But Eric Cantor’s defeat defeated their plans.
It’s the same in Utah. Orrin Hatch wanted to retire, but wanted to prevent another Mike Lee in the senate. So Romney’s running...to prevent a conservative from winning in a conservative state.
You watch these machinations long enough, you can see the malefactors moving behind the curtains.
Frankly, I think McCain is either close to death or they can’t continue their charade for some reason.
If McCain dies or resigns before Ducey’s primary, and Ducey appoints Cindy McCain, he’s going to have a harder time winning the primary.
So they have to work to remove Ducey’s challenge, so there’s clear sailing for all.
Something’s going on that we don’t know about. And we’ll see.
