The Austin City Council unanimously approved a pair of “Freedom City” resolutions on Thursday that target racial disparity in Austin police arrests and how officers interact with undocumented immigrants. The first resolution... police to end most discretionary arrests, which happen when an officer chooses to arrest someone for an offense that could result in either a trip to jail or a ticket... data from 2017 that he said showed Austin police arrested African-Americans at an officer’s discretion at more than double the rate of white and Latino residents, and that blacks were seven times more likely to be arrested for low-level marijuana possession than whites. The second resolution asks that police leaders vet and scrutinize requests for immigration enforcement assistance to see if they include a criminal nexus, and whether officers have the proper training to carry out duties associated with those requests.

Here's an idea, don't disobey traffic laws and you won't be pulled over. If you are pulled over, don't mouth off to the officer.

The city just made its sanctuary city status official. Just keepin' Austin weird.

...The institute’s study was a spectacular thing. Using expensive monitors with high-speed cameras and radar detectors, they clocked the speeds of nearly 40,000 drivers on the relevant section of the turnpike. Three researchers then examined the photos to determine the race of the driver — without knowing whether the driver was speeding, which was defined as going more than 80 mph in 65 mph zones.

The result: No racial profiling.

Blacks constituted 25 percent of all speeders and they were 23 percent of drivers stopped for speeding. Controlling for age and gender, blacks sped at about twice the rate of whites. The racial disparity was even greater for drivers exceeding 90 mph.

Inasmuch as the study was irrefutable, Mark Posner, a lefty Clinton holdover in the Bush Justice Department, tried to block it from being released, continuously demanding more information. ...

.……...just fyi, Austin has one highway where certain stretches of the highway have a speed limit of 80 mph. It’s State Hwy 130 east of town.

The People’s anti-Christian Socialist Kakistocracy Council of Austin has had its hotel up its keister for a very long time. Seattle and Portland could even take lessons... Like the Waller Creek Tunnel project.

Not only that. 2015 USACycling Cyclocross National Championships, the Austin weirdoes were complaining that the race was too close to the trees, the bicycles were killing the trees and the trees were screaming. So the Austin Police (Arthur the Asshole, who is now in Houston) shut the event down, chased everyone out, demanding bicycles and vendor tents be abandoned.
BTW, Austin City Limits and South by Southwest tends to make Zilker Park even more of a mess. But cyclocross is bad, it’s fun that does not involve getting stoned on weed. Plus, it involves evil competition, which is part of the evil white cishet patriarchy! (Did I really write that last sentence? It needs a sarcasm tag)

Another reason for conservatives to elect a pro-2nd amendment, Constitutional sheriff in their counties. That way, when the politicized cops harass normal citizens, they are met by an armed sheriff who has the law on his side.
