Walking along Michigan Avenue the other day, my 8-year-old nephew who is visiting from Georgia noticed the shiny glass building towering over the Chicago River.
Look, it says Trump! he shouted.
What do you know about Trump? I asked. Do you like him?
Yeah, he answered without hesitation. Hes our president. He keeps us safe.
Granted, my nephew comes from a small town in a red state that gave Donald Trump 50 percent of the vote against Hillary Clintons 45 percent. It is quite possible that he has managed to escape much of the Trump disdain that is displayed so vividly throughout the rest of the country.
Regardless, this simple exchange with a child caused me to consider something Id never thought about. Could some of us be too eager to see Trump fail?
Trump has given Americans countless reasons to dislike him. His divisive speech and his childlike antics have made a spectacle of the nations highest office. It is no surprise that more than half of the country disapproves of the job he is doing in Washington.
In a country so politically divided, it is difficult for some of us to see the good in anything Trump does. Thats a harsh fact to acknowledge. But it is not entirely our fault....

The left doesn’t get it.
Trump is changing what leadership means in America.
Many of the young are growing up, liking the way things are going. For the first time in an entire generation, they are being shown an example of leadership from a Republican which is all positive.
Not selling out. Not compromised.
100% for America. Through and through.
THIS is what has been needed forever. A GOP which is showing the right things, to the right people.
This is a very good article.
The Left has come to the point that if Trump offered them an antidote to lethal poison, they trash him, refuse it, and die.
There’s no other explanation for what they are doing.
It amazes me the long line of them that accuses Trump of racism, and Blacks/Hispanics never had it so good in the U. S.
Divisive speech and childish antics? They must be talking about Jim Acosta.
That eight-year-old is brighter and has more common sense than 90% of our professional propagandist “press” corps, many of whom are clearly trying to sabotage Trump’s peace efforts or at least wish their failure.
I call it the Pauline Kael Effect. Named for the NY film critic who notoriously (and apocryphally) stated; I cant believe Nixon won. I dont know anyone who voted for him.
They are “sincerely” flummoxed that anyone could respect Trump, much less admire him. Their hate is so visceral and complete that they are incapable of anything less than rage. I can sorta relate since I can’t imagine how incredibly stupid you would have to be to think that Ødungo is anything less than a criminal.
As to expectations, I think ours is good. We have our champion and they have shyt.
Agree. It's another one of those "Trump is terrible, but..." editorials. It's a step in the right direction.
The author is black. Me thinks, the combined effect of Dennis Rodman, Kanye West, and Candace Owens are beginning to turn the big Leftist supertanker in the right direction.

IOW< the shill who regurgitated this slop is just another DNC *ssh*l*. Thanks 2ndDivisionVet.
Got a pedicure from a young AA woman at the beauty school. She lectured me on how great OUR president is. How as a business man he had turned our economy around. How great he had been for the military and veterans and on an on! She’s from a large Christian family and even told me how much she appreciated his “merry Christmas” stance. The word is getting out. The People notice
Mr.Kim, build that resort.
His work in Korea is both creative, and truly peace loving. “Make Luxury Resorts, Not War”
Wholeheartedly agree.
Mr. Kim, big macs for your people.
The thing that struck me is she says that “America’s team no longer exists”
We have sat and watched 4 straight democrat (or democrat lite) presidents do NOTHING for America. We have watched democrat controlled congresses do NOTHING for America.
Now we see a Republican President who is WORKING FOR AMERICA!
America’s team exists. It is called Pro-President Trump.
