What's the difference between a photo of an illegal toddler at our southern border bawling because her diaper is wet, and images of identically aged toddlers in India, Bangladesh, Niger, Burundi, Liberia, Malawi, Democratic Republic of Congo, Central African Republic, dying of hunger, disease, heat, cold, floods, hurricanes, wild animals, other predators and natural disasters...???
The fact that they are many thousands of miles away and out of sight and out of mind, and not on our Southern Border?
Isn't it also barbaric, inhumane cruel and unfeeling to not even to think about all the others? Is that not also the brainless, meaningless, banal "who we are?"?
No country on earth, today, or ever, has the ability to "save all the children of the world's hungry, cold, sick and dying in other foreign sovereign countries.
I have always assumed that all normal adult, intelligent educated and aware human beings are aware of the age-old Lifeboat dilemma/conundrum : we save those we value most or we all perish...
The rational choice is the one sanctioned by all but one of the real religions, as well as moral philosophers throughout history.
This, of course, excludes mentally healthy adults who choose to sacrifice themselves.
Exactly, which is why we have to turn off the magnet that is luring these people here, only to be harshly treated at the border.
I'm not saying we must stop the harsh border treatment, but the opposite. We must keep up the border enforcement at the end of the pipeline, and also plug up the beginning of the pipeline by stopping the dangling of amnesties by a Congress who is afraid to pass the tough laws. They'd rather pass politically compromised laws and leave it to a President to take the heat on enforcement.

I’m hearing taped exchanges from Monday’s Q&A on the IG Report on talk radio.
NONE of the damning exchanges are making top of the hour news and I haven’t read the press accounts except some stray references to “charges of bias” without explicit example.
But this temper tantrum over smuggled kids is dominating the news cycle. And the details of who started it, when it began, etc are NOT in the highlight reel.
The forces of evil are in a full-blown “Exorcist” seizure of lying about this issue. They have even allowed clandestine agents to blow their cover—e.g., Bill O’Reilly and Barbara Bush.
This article is of inestimable value in counteracting their propaganda onslaught, but only if enough of the right people see it.
I propose that we “chain letter” it, with each of us undertaking to forward it to the largest possible number of acquaintances who might be open to it.
In a nutshell: it’s all bullsh*t cooked up by yet more democrats launching yet another unwarranted attack on The Donald.
